Brenda Dietrich, senior, takes a mighty leap to spike the ball. Ready and waiting: Julie Danhauer bumps the ball. In spite of defeats the Marquette volleyball girls maintained their determination and desire to play a good game regardless of the final score. When the season ended the girls had 4 wins. Volleyball coach this year was Mr. Carl Abele. Mr. Abele was assisted by Mrs. Terri Teel, a former Marquette High School student who played volleyball during her school years. Senior Jackie Hutsell received a CRC Honorable Mention All-Conference Award as a setter. Three senior girls gave their utmost effort during their last year at Marquette High School. Senior Jackie Hutsell concentrates and takes aim before serving. ae i be Homecoming Crownbearers Coach Jacobsen gives Quarterback Kevin McHarg ue and Jennifer Huebert Nutzman a winning play. Homecoming King and Queen 1978 were announced on Friday, October | 3th. “Life's Been Good” was the theme and the gym was decorated in shades of light and dark blue. Master of Ceremonies for the program was Senior Kevin Griffith. Skits were put on by the M-Club, Spirit Club and FHA. Mr. Steve Jacobsen gave the speech and Mrs. Debra Stranberg presented the wall awards to seniors 3rd place, juniors 2nd place and sophomores Ist place. The thrill of victory was known by Marquette as the Cubs upset Hampton, 24-22. The attendants were escorted onto the field in Corvettes at halftime.
