Junior-Senior Banquet Holds Fond Memories The theme “On the Threshold of aDream” and pastel colors set the mood for the 1978 Junior-Senior Banquet which was held April 27 at the Bonanza Sirloin Pit in Grand Island. Mark Jacobsen welcomed the faculty and seniors while the response was given by Greg Ellenwood. The invocation and benediction was given by Dr. Melvin Zichek. 1977 Homecoming A Success “Nobody does it better’ was the theme for the 1977 Homecoming. To help set the mood for this year’s homecoming, grades 7-12 decorated the walls of the gym. Seniors took first place while the sophomores took second place. Mark Jacobsen gave the welcome followed by M. C. Rick Richter who introduced skits put on by various school organizations. At halftime of the football game with Hordville, the royalty and attendents were escorted onto the football field in Corvettes. Mr. Tom Luff acted as Master of Mr. Steve Jacobsen presents football awards. Mr. Terry Novak shares his words of wisdom. Ceremonies. Athletes Honored at Banque “We Are The Champions” was the theme ts whic h was chosen for the 1978 Athletic Banquet. The gym was decorated in blue and gold streamers and featured two revolving wheels of blue streamers and glitter stars. The meal was served at 6:30 and at 7:30 Master of Ceremonies Mr. Tom Luff started the program. Mr. Terry Novak, a senior basketball player at the University of Nebraska, was the featured guest speaker of the evening. Football, basketball, volleyball and track coaches presented awards and letters to the athletes. Miss Debra Waterman, Spirit Club Sponsor, announced the cheerleaders for next year - Julie Danhauer head cheerleader, Jackie Hutsell, Brenda Dietrich, Rhonda Nutzman, Julie Kauffman, Krista Sailors and Linda Johnston. The program was concluded with the benediction by Dr. Melvin Zichek. The Red Tagg Disco from Kearney played for the dance that followed the program. Mr. Terry Novak, the guest speaker of the evening, tells how basketball career began. Terry Novak was happy to sign autographs.
