Activities Keep Student Council Busy. Membership for the Student Council this year consists of the vice-president and another member from each class, grades 7-12. Several activities kept the 12-member group busy throughout the school year. The main source of income for the year came from the selling of school activities calendars. This is the third straight year the student council has done this. A special day was set aside again this year to sell suckers to help in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. A Christmas skating party was held at Grand Island’s Skate Island to add a bit of fun and recreation to the school year. Grades 7-12 attended the all-day party. You People! Rhonda Nutzman found a new friend. FHA visited the School for Exceptional Children. FHA Faces New Challenges FHA members worked hard on many different activities which kept them busy. We again held the annual Salad Supper which is our only money-making project. There was a large turn out with good food for everyone. A Christmas party was held with every member having a “secret sister”. It was a lot of fun for the girls to try and guess their “sister”. As a special project the FHA made several trips to the School for Exceptional Children. It was a learning session for both the children and FHA members. To get organized for next year, installation of the 1977-1978 officers was held in Central City on April 12. There was good participation at District and State Convention where many new ideas and suggestions were brought home. Girls Join M-Club A change was made in M-Club this year by allowing girls to join which upped the membership to 25. To keep busy throughout the school year, the group sold cub jackets to students and community members to help boost school spirit. The many fund raising activities helped finance Homecoming and the Athletic Banquet. An old organization got a fresh start with the forma- tion of a group which allowed boys and girls grades 7-12 to participate in the backing of the spirit of MHS. Mr. Jacobsen sponsored us in moneymaking projects which consisted of selling “All-American” gift kits and run- ning a concession stand at all home football, volleyball and basketball games. The money earned from these projects was used to prepare Homecoming and Athletic Banquet ac- tivities. We also sponsored a blanket toss for the Easter Seal Foundation during the halftime of the basketball games. After the first year of Spirit Club, changes were made to improve the organization.
