'Sf Kfp The most important part of any education f XS is the part that prepares us for the only true J I i Q l S life, the life that Will never end. That is why the three days of our annual Retreat were the most sex i ti ' J6 ,Q Jfuretnurh important days of the school year. For those three days we got the real line-up on life. Only in the light of their lessons could the rest of the year - just as the rest of our lives - be seen correctly. As the Retreat, then, was the real theme for the year, so we feel it appropriate to make it the basic theme also for our yearbook. We shall try to unfold the story of Marquette, 1952-1953, in terms of the four phases of a Retreat, as outlined by St. Ignatius Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. A quotation from St. Paul summarizes perfectly this lgnatian outline. ln its inspired words We truly see the line-up of this year f and our lives. Why then, since we are watched from above by such a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of all that weighs us down ,... and run with all endurance, the race for which we are entered. Let us fix our eyes on J esus, the origin and crown of all faith who, to win His prize of blessedness, endured the cross and made light of its shame, Jesus, who now sits on the right hand of the throne of Godf' St. Paul lo the Hebrews, 12:1-2
