8 Fr. Logan at the Conseeration of the Mass in St. Joseplfs Church. be etreat As we have already mentioned in the I oreword, the Retreat was truly the most important three days of the sehool year. That explains the theme we have chosen for this yearbook: the year-long extension, the realization, of that Retreat. The three days themselves, QMonday, Tuesday, and VVednesday, Nov. 2-1, 25, 265 were as concentrated as any elass day could ever be, but in a far dillerent way. In stead of classes one after another, and the inevitable rush and roar of the periods in between, we had three talks every day, by Father Logan, in the sacred surroundings of St. .Iosephls . . . Fr. Joseph P. Logan, S.J. Fr. Richard S. Bradley, SJ. Retreat Master for the Up- Retreat Master forthe Fresh- per Classnien. men.

There are many in fact to whom we owe thanks for this tremendous gift: a year of Catholic education. T o our parents first of all, for their faith and sacrifice. Also to our teachers, for their patience and inspiration. And to all the nameless benefactors of Marquette. They are the cloud of witnesses, waiting to see how we use their gift to us . . . To all .of them we would like to dedicate this book, as a testimonial of something we have accompolished with their help. But since we want to individualize this dedication, we think we can most appropriately do so by singling out for our special tribute of gratitude the great Master of all Retreats and Csince he founded the Jesuitsj the indirect Founder of Marquette: Saint Ignatius Loyola. To him, after God, we owe the priceless picture of the only true life.

Before and aftier the talks, we had lots of time to think fn and to prziy. lt was this time left to ourselves, in silence and alone with Our Lord, that really made it our Retreait, with results that some of the pages in this yearbook may indicate e but can never fully clescrilmo.
