AWARDS John Keshner was a Marquette football player. He collapsed in 1963 on a football field and later died. He was a senior at the time. The John Keshner award is voted by the varsity football team. It is given to the player who has shown leadership, athletic ability, discipline and desire. This year the John Keshner award goes to Jeff Brown Al Pitts was a sophomore at Marquette. He was an outstanding football, basketball, and baseball player. He would have graduated in the year of 1972 , but between his sophomore and junior year he was a victim of a drowning accident. The AT Pitts award is voted by the members of the varsity basketball team. The award is based on sportsmanship, leadership, athletic ability, and desire. This year the Al Pitts award goes to Harrison Jackson D.A.R. award is nominated by the senior class and is voted on by the faculty. The award is based on a senior who demonstrates outstanding citizenship, academics, leadership, of school and the student body. This year the D.A.R. award is given to Ann Marie Groner. Girl ' s Sports award is voted by all varsity members of all girl’s sports. A senior girl is chosen who best represents the qualities of leadership, athletic skill, cooperation, sportsmanship, dedication, and discipline. This year the Girl’s Sports award goes to Tina Droste. The Scholar Athlete award originates from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. It is based on a high grade point average and it goes to an athlete of two or more sports with high athletic skill. This award is given to a skilled athlete who maintains a high academic standard. This year the Scholar Athlete goes to Ann Marie Groner. 28
