Each year the student body of Marple- Newtown High School elects student council officers, and each home room chooses a person to represent it at the council meetings. These people comprise the student voice in the govern- ment of our school. It is the job of the council to set up a student code of behavior. It is also the responsibility of the council to present student activities awards. This year the student council can boast several new accomplishments. Hi-Q guilds Jmprcssive Score Marple -Newtown ' s entrant in this year ' s fast (and some- times furious) Scott ' s Hi-Q quiz contests is the first M-N team in the contest ' s twelve -year history to be in a position to finish among the upper three schools and thus enter the finals in an attempt to win the first prize of $1000 for our school. At the time of publication the team ranked 4th with 55 points, just 1 point out of third place and 6 points behind the leaders. 24
