Meet the Marple- Newtown Joint Authority. This organization, appointedby the M-N Joint School Board, has a big job but has been given little recognition. These poeple are responsible for the building of the Junior and Senior high schools. They built the addition to the Junior High and will presently begin work on a new Junior High. This organization was appointed because they have more power to raise more funds for schools than the School Board enjoys. The Joint Board enters into the contracts for new buildings and issues bonds to cover the full cost. The School Board then pays yearly rentals until the cost of the bonds and their interest are covered. Benjamin Townsend Jr., Bond Council, John B. H. Donaldson, Authority Solicitor, Edward T. Zhe Zeachers 7 ace Zke Parents Parents and teachers have many things in common and one of them is a mutual interest in the problems of M-N ' s student body. One of the goals of the PTA is to help solve some of these problems. An excellent job has been done this year at meetings with active discussions and qualified speakers, who answered questions on many pertinent topics such as careers, juvenile delinquency, and our future in space. The first program of the year consisted of an open house evening early in October, during which parents followed the daily schedules of the sons and daughters and spoke with each of their teachers. The PTA has also conducted fund drives in order to raise money for the PTA scholarship, which is presented annually to a deserving senior for the college of his choice. M
