SUPEIIVISI06 PfiinciPflL’s UltSSflGt The boys and girls who graduate from high school this June of 1954 are facing a troubled world. On all sides we hear people talking about an imminent war and the strong probability of a coming business recession which will hamper employment and place a bar in the path of business progress. The boys are confronted by the draft and with the resultant uncertainties that it causes. All of which adds up to the fact that young people today must face up to this con- dition courageously and not be daunted by situations over which they have no control. I am reminded of the great general in World War I v ho, when he saw his retreat was cut off, declared the only action to take was to go forward and that is just what he did. High school graduates must follow the same course. Remember that basic facts and conditions never change. A good character and hard work will get results at all times. The weak person will try to jus- tify his lack of progress by bringing up the handicaps which the threatening condition of the world may impose. The strong person fixes his eyes on the goal ahead and disregards the hin- drances which may beset him. Make a resolve that you will not be dismayed by the present uncertainties with which we are all faced, and that you will attack every task and problem which you meet with your very best ability.
