The team, which was very inexperienced, played around .500 all season long, and finished just one game under with a 12-13 record. This team had only three seniors with varsity experience, while the rest of the feam was composed of inexperienced seniors and several juniors. In spite of the lack of experience, the team managed to put together a good season under Coach James. With so many juniors getting a chance during the ‘86-87 season, the '87-88 season should prove to be a productive one because the team will be an experienced. This year was especially interesting since Kristi Ritter was the state officer from Region IV and planned and conducted the meeting. The theme was ‘Changing Goals for a Changing World . Members attended workshops on various subjects. For Homecoming week, the FHA sponsored their annual Mr. Legs and Ms. Flex contest. Mr. Legs candidates were the senior football players and Ms. Flex candidates were the senior FHA members. The 1986 winners were Jamie Eagler and Shannon Black. FHA sold Homecoming mums again as a service to the student body and also had a pick-up truck in the parade. FHA week was February 9-13. One of the week's activities was ‘‘Heart Give-Away Day''. FHA members wore hearts and if they talked to a boy, they had to give up their heart to that boy. One of the most popular events of FHA week was selling carnations which are delivered for Valentine's Day. Red, pink, and white State Officer: Kristi Ritter carnations were sold. Many students puchased them to Peciones Cicer hany Ages be given to sweethearts or friends. During February, FHA also sponsored a Sweetheart Dance. Amy Agee was elected the new section president and Becky Swinger was elected secretary for the section. Nine officers for 1987-88 and two chapter mothers along with Kristi Ritter attended the state conference held in Springfield in May. The theme of the leadership conference was ‘The Power of One — Experience the Magic ’. It was a very exciting trip and conference since Kristi Ritter was one of the eight officers who helped plan the meeting. Members attended various workshops and general sessions. Two of our members participated in the proficiency events. Becky Swinger received a first place rating on an individual research project and Krystal Dunn received a second place rating on the chapter activities manual.
