The year is 1999, fifteen years after the talented class of ’84 has graduated Let’s see what thcv’rc up to at the turn of the century We start off with a stroll down Victory Lane,’’ a park built beside the old Maroa-Fors th High School, dedicated to those great senior football players back in 1984 Here comes hrik Black. Joey Shofner, Craig Miller, and Brian Emery The group has informed us that they have started their own professional football team Erik is playing. Richard is coaching. Craig is the defensive coach. Joey is the offensive coach and Brian is the ehccrleading sponsor Brian says he has a good squad His captain is Marti Surina As we stroll on down Victory Lane, we come to the new shopping mall Our first store is “Art Display.” run by Pattv Sides She tells us that Kim Cavanaugh is Rick Springfield’s own private secretary. Shannon Rhodes is racing at the Indianapolis 500 with her new Turbo. Shelley Moore has started her own disco called Shelley’s, Nola Swinger has invented her own kind of bubble gum for blowing bubbles, and Brenda Shockey is playing pro softball in Michigan As we stroll along we run into none other than Dawn La el. Dawn tells us that she is running her own tanning spa. Loryetta Pruil is now running the Locker Room and is happily married. Donnetle Sennhenn took up professional modeling, and Becky Hoffman is teaching a class called “Learning to Type 101. We leave Dawn and head on to the arena where we find Vonda Lorett preparing ncr Olympic hopefuls in Volleyball. Vonda is now head coach Across the gym we find Tim Ohlcmeycr coaching his Olympic hopeful basketball plavcrs Vonda informs us that Laurie Todd is still happily married and is an executive secretary for Burk Enterprises Donna Smith is still happily married also She now owns Caines 84 Flavors, her own little ice cream store. Here comes Shelly Townsend to talk with Vonda Shelly informs she now owns a chain of 27 Health Spas, and is happily married She loans the use of her Health Spas to Tim and Vonda s Olympic teams As we leave the arena who should we run into but Jeff Followed and Jim Clark Jeff is still happily married and owns both of the Great Skates in Decatur; Jim is running them We stroll on along and run into Greg Patterson Greg tells us he is a program director for N ASA space center His two top astronauts arc Sam Brown and Mark Rogers Greg says both arc doing well We walk on across the street and run into Melody Shoemaker Melody is an associate director for Amy Gardner ' s Pom Pon Squad Her squad is presently performing for Erik s football team Both women need to rush off and can’t talk so we decide to board a 747 and fly out west to sec what the rest of the class is up to. We board the plane and are instantly greeted by our flight attendant Angie Buttrum Angie tells us she gets to fly everywhere and manages to stay in touch with a lot of the class. She informs us that Kevin Koslofski is now making millions play pro baseball, while Bruce Dial is making millions coaching the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team since Dean Smith retired She says that they arc passengers quite often on board many of the flights. A voice comes over the intercom, and lo and behold n is Rich Ryan flying our plane As we are going over the Grand Canyon we see two motorcycles doing death defying feats. Angie informs us that it is Rick Campbell and Curt Day. They have opened their own motorcycle stunt club and do T V stunts for a new T V show called STUDS The producer is our very own Kevin Jannusch Kevin seems to be doing well, besides STUDS. Kevin is producing another series called Cartoon Man starring Tim Gilbert As we arrive at Las Vegas airport we arc greeted by Lanette Henley who is public relations supervisor for MGM Hotel She tells us Steve Deal will be singing tonight along with Boy George and Michael Jackson As we are going through the lobby we run into David Thompson who is taking a break from dealing Black Jack He tells us that Troy Brelsford owns a 2,000 acre ranch in Texas, and Barry Miller is out on an offshore oil rig Coming down the lobby is Cheryl Miles Cheryl is the top Camaro salesperson in Vegas. Cheryl is on her way to a doctor ' s appointment with Erin Athei ton Erin is a General Practitioner Her office is in the Baker Building w here Jeff Baker has his computer compans We decide after Steve ' s show to go to the new restaurant called Tina ' s” famous for seafood, chicken, and steak We arc greeted at the door by the owner Tina Pos ich Tina says business is excellent She also tells us that Marsha Reason has opened a daycare center two blocks down, and Jeff Wilson has a night club a block from the daycare center Tina tells us that ndrca Head has just opened a new casino by Caesars Palace We go to our table and we arc served by the head waiter. David DeMark who informs us that Mike Hathaway is a Cicneral (the first) in the National Guard and that Chris Braden is manufacturing a new line of fashion clothes called C B for truckers As we prepare for our journey home we look back at the Class of 84. and rea lize just how lar everyone has come No matter how far apart we are. we will never forget those in our past We will never forget the fun times and special friends we had for at least six sears of our lives Good luck and best w ishes to you all by Shelly Townsend None before like ’84 None to come either!
