CLASS HISTORY BY LANA BLAIR AND LINDA ELDER In the year 1978, seventy-two humble and excited freshmen came together as one to start a fun-filled, prosperous year together. Our class officers were Greg Thompson, president; Dan Weyen, vice-president; and Kim Myers, secretary-treasurer. Our sponsors were Mrs. Daggett, Miss Sewell, and Mr. Haines. We gained many new students — Lana Bledsaw, Keith Burris, Lori Dawes, Arthur Delmuro, David Delmuro, Brent McAlpin, Dianne Connon, and Jeff Wilson. We lost Tim Wittenbrink, Julie Hardt, Angie Miller, Jeff Wilson, Wendy Hill, Art Delmuro, David Delmuro, Haley Adams, and Rick Roberts. Our homecoming float was Toast to the Trojans” which placed fifth, and our attendants were Judy McKirahan and Dan Weyen. Our freshman football team was outstanding, having an undefeated season. We went on to our sophomore year with high hopes. Along with Mrs. Daggett, Miss Sewell, and Mr. Haines as our sponsors, we gained Miss Bates. Finally, we became upper classmen. Our class was guided by five sponsors consisting of Mrs. Daggett, Miss Sewell, Mr. Haines, Miss Bates, and a new sponsor, Mrs. Zimmerman. We lost John Cooper, Marie Legg, Keith Burris, Terry Weikle, Sue Wilson, Allen Oueen, Lana Bledsaw, Tracy Hall, Shelley Howell, Eddie Plankenhorn, and Dan Clark. We had six juniors who graduated early. They were Kim Bond, Mark Hassinger, David Kolves, Tim Vincent, Diane Connon, and Monty Rodgers. Our homecoming was a great success with our float. “Cream ’Em, coming in first and Shelley Howell and Scott Newlin being our homecoming attendants. Our junior varsity football team had seven wins and one loss. Our senior year was a year that will always be remembered. Our sponsors were Mrs. Daggett, Mrs. Zimmerman, Miss Sewell, Miss Bates, and a new sponsor, Mr. James, who took Mr. Haines ' place. Our class officers were Greg Thompson, president; Kim Myers, vice-president; and John Koehler, secretary-treasurer. We gained several new students — Sherri May, Sue Wilson, Mary Ann Barnes, Angie Miller, and Antoine Robert, a foreign exchange student from Switzerland. Our homecoming float was “Socket to’Em” placing second. Our homecoming attendants were Dan Weyen, Greg Thompson, Dwayne Faulkner, Tom Pennypacker, and Scott Newlin as king candidates and Angie Lazell, Lori Dawes, Judy McKirahan, Dawn Edwards, and Kim Myers as queen candidates. Scott Newlin was selected as king and Dawn Edwards as queen. Our varsity football team ended the regular football season with an undefeated record.
