These were the voyages of the senior class of MFHS, whose four year mission was to seek out good teach¬ ers and easy courses. Also to explore new classrooms, and to boldly go where no student has ever gone before. In the fall of 1976, our crew of 88 freshmen began our four year mission, which would change us into young adults. Our ground control officers were Mrs. Clausen, Mrs. Berry, Mrs. Coen, and Mr. Thompson. We lost two of our sponsors at the end of 1977 — Mrs. Clausen and Mrs. Coen. Our commanding officers were: Captain, Pam Day; 1st Lieutenant, Bob Bischoff; and 2nd Lieutenant, David Lane. We lost 11 of our crew members our freshman year. They were: David Lane, Jim Dunn, William Dunn, Pat Beck, John Snow, Tim Younker, Jeff Sallee, and Delbert Jacobs. Our Homecoming was very exciting! We placed first in the float competition, with the theme of Reel ' Em In. We proceeded to obtain first place during all of the four years of our voyage. Our Homecoming candidates were Pam Day and Dan Boyer. It was a great year for singing, We love you seniors, and penny-pushing. During our sophomore year, our crew of 81 members gained four more members. They were: Tim Thompson, Reva West, Rhonda Teeters, and Tammy Dash. We lost nine members, who were: Jim Lee, Ron Root, Jeff Rutherford, Lynne Thomas, John Terry, Mark Walters, Kim Warner, Kevin Warner, and Reva West. Our commanding officers during our sophomore year were: Captain, Bob Bischoff; 2nd Lieutenant, Peggy Parks; and 2nd Lieutenant, Bonnie Hill. Our ground control officers were Mrs. Berry and Mr. Thompson. We gained two new ground control officers — Miss Cox and Mr. Dale. We placed first in the float competition at Homecoming, with our float ' s theme of Let ' s Get Ruff. Our homecoming candidates were Jamie Brown and Dan Boyer. It was a great year for showing off our licenses. Our voyage was only two years from being complete in the fall of 1978. Time was flying by! We had a crew of 74 our junior year, and the same ground control officers as we had the previous year. Our com¬ manding officers were: Captain, Bob Bischoff; 1st Lieutenant, Bonnie Hill; and 2nd Lieutenant, Sheri Gallo¬ way. We gained four new crew members: Sherry Ashcraft, Scott Muth, Mike Conrad, and Debi Spell. We lost three members, who were: Brenda Johnson, Steve Miller, and John Sides. Our float placed first with the theme of, Cancel Their Reservations. The Homecoming candidates for our class were: Susie Lohmar, Scott Frazier, Pam Day, and John Wood. It was a great year for Friday night games and Saturday night par¬ ties. We proceeded onward to our final voyage at MFHS. We had a mighty senior crew of 74. We had finally made it to the golden year of 1980 — the one we had all dreamed of in years gone by. Our ground control officers were Miss Roosevelt, who replaced Mrs. Berry, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Guichard, and Mr. Dale. We lost Miss Cox at the end of the preceding year. Our commanding officers were: Captain, Pam Day; 1st Lieuten¬ ant, Susie Lohmar; and 2nd Lieutenant, Kirk Ford. We lost only one member our senior year, and that was Scott Muth. We also gained three members: Cherie Flowers, Mario Ortiz, and Lucia Mello. Our Homecom¬ ing float placed first with a theme of Foiled Again. The candidates for Homecoming were: Pam Day, Jeff Crabtree, Teresa Thompson, and Mike Stogsdill. Pam Day and Jeff Crabtree won the crown and became the 1979 Homecoming King and Queen. Prom was also a very big event during our junior and senior years. We hosted prom at the Decatur Club our junior year v and we were the guests of honor our senior year. We took a trip to the Ozarks in Missouri toward the end of our senior year. Some of our ground control officers went with us. And to thank them, we helped them take a dip. Yes, our senior year was an exciting year! We were the mighty enforcers of penny-pushing and admired for our title of SENIORS. The four years of our voyage will long be remembered by us, but it is time for us to move out into the world and achieve goals that we have set for ourselves. Years from now we will remember the great times we had in our CLASS OF 1980! I shall pass through this world but once. If there is any good that I can do, let me do it now. For I shall not pass this way again. Acting wild, And getting crazy, W e ' re the CLASS OF 1980! Guess Who? MOLLY SPRIGGS MOO When I ' m kidding, I always holler. Hey Babe! Reds my favorite color! It is now ten years later. Within the confines of our four walls we have built a min-city to occupy our time. Let ' s take a look at what everone has been doing to keep from getting HOSTAGE SYNDROME. The most popular pastime here is television watching. As we flick on the tube we see the faces of CINDY ADAMS, SHARON HENLEY and SHERI BLUNDY on the screen. It ' s the show Having Babies XVIII. The girls are all married now and are each producing one baby per season. Flipping over to the educational channel we see LARRY ALEXANDER in Mr. Alexander ' s Neighborhood. We board Mr. Trolley to go to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. There, we see JOHN SIDES, CAROLE CHURCHILL, and MIKE STOGSDILL. They wave as we complete our journey. Mr. Alexander says that he has a special guest today! (Can you say guest? We thought maybe you could)! It ' s CINDEE SHOCKEY, visiting with her world renowned Potato Puppet Revue. Alrighta! BOB TODD and VICKI AMMONS are hosting a new T.V. game show — Dialing for Dobbs. Vicki announces the lucky prize winners each week. However, her voice is so quiet that most of the phone calls they receive are inquiries asking what it was that Vicki said. This weeks winner was TOM CLIFTON — his gift was a case of canned carp. Sorry, Charlie! Commercial time! Why it ' s SCOTT CUNNINGHAM! He owns a new lawn and garden shop called Shake and Rake. Glenda BUSH helps with the shrubbery problems. DAN and DALE GARREN take care of SCOTT ' S JOHN DEERE machinery. The camera zooms in on the two, and they prepare to say their only lines —■and we helped! In trying to create a homey atmosphere we, of course, had to build a mall. The new cinemas were just completed last week. Showing in No. 1 is a spin-off of Charlie ' s Angels — The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, starring SUSIE LOHMAR, MAIE BROWN, and KRIS TEEL. We won ' t touch this one ... When we walk into No. 2, we see TIM THOMPSON ' S face on the screen. Tim (who was never good in math) joins JIM SEABERG in Rocky 34, the Tim and Jim show, Pumping Iron. Okay, jumping jacks —1,2, 3,5,...1,2,3,5... Walking down the mall we gaze at the varied shops. Stopping in at Bacrach ' s, we see KIRK FORD and DAVID BERRY. They tell us they have bought the patent to Rauncho ' s Jockomatic. They go on to tell us that they have improved their form of masculine protection by adding two wide adhesive strips and mak¬ ing them disposable. Right next door is CHERIE FLOWERS with her boutique Fashion Corral. She tells us to turn on the radio and listen to her new ad — Take it straight from the horse ' s mouth — don ' t look slipshod. We have clothes ready to wear on the spur of the moment at Fashion Corral. She asks us to stay and look at her silver cowboy hats and listen to the radio. To our surprise our buddy JOHN WOOD is belting out his new No. 1 C and W single, Mommas Don ' t Let Your Cowboys Grow Up to Be Babies. (Cherie confides that John was in last week to buy a pair of purple disco boots). Next, a disco tune hits our ears. It ' s The Party Pad Chicks, LESLIE OLDFIELD, MOLLY SPRIGGS, LAURIE HUMPHREYS, and JULIE JOHNSON singing Bad Girls. The flip side of the record is American Graffiti. We told our hostess bye and decided to eat at a little stand called simply TACO ' S. There is MARIO ORTIZ! We asked him what he has been up to. Whipping out his Spanish-English dictionary, he flipped to the appropriate pages ... looked up into our expectant eyes... took a deep breath ... and said What? When the last taco had been eaten we drove over to the professional building across from the mall. We visited STEVE REASON who is now a dentist. Steve has perfected a new method of tooth extraction based on the infamous take-out slides. The procedure is still relatively expensive, however, because of the high cost of replacing gym shorts. BEN MANLEY has located the office for his new studio here on the second floor. S M Studios is pros¬ pering. Remember this motto — lips, hips, and whips — we photograph anything! On floor three, CRAIG ' S EMERY Board files complaints against C. C. Grundy, Inc., A terrorist organiza¬ tion (featuring TERESA DEAL, RHONDA TEETERS, SHERRY WEIKLE, and TONYA HARRIS) devoted entirely to making life miserable for one NORA GRIFFIN. Nora is now involved in making recordings for Memorex Corporation. Is it live or is it Nora? JACQUE JOHNSON Has located her base of operations here. Jacque Cosmetics is now a multi-dollar cor¬ poration, contributing to many charitable organizations. The most recent of these ventures is her support of a rocking chair marathon dreamed up by KREGG BURRIS. Just down the way we see SCOTT FRAZIER ' s newest enterprise. It ' s a hair salon called Le Frazier and we see that Mr. Scott is in. Our newest line of removable hairpieces comes in one style — perfect, says he. As we leave the salon, we spy a magazine stand. Right up front is this months issue of the latest triumph of Debbie Darby. It ' s a pictorial magazine called Nephew. Right next to this we see ERIC BRASHEAR ' s face on the Science Digest. It seems that he won a certificate of participation for his entry in the Model Peace Prize competition for safe uses of nuclear energy. His was a nuclear noseblower. We noticed that he has a band-aid on his face. It seems that his reactor had a meltdown and he blew his nose off his face. JOY MALONE ' S cookbook is on the shelf. She has a syndicated show, the Joy of Jello. She broadcasts from the Energy Factory. Her secret, Well, says our hostess, if JEFF CRABTREE can slurp my creations off of the plate, then I know they ' re good! As for Jeff, he is holding a rubber-head look-a-like contest in the corner. His only contestants so far are himself and a mirror. BONNIE HILL is now matron at an all boys school. She is so generous with her compliments. Her most frequent comment is, That ' s using your noodle! Speaking of noodles, BOB BISCHOFF ' S is going soft! Bob was so far advanced intellectually during school that he is going into an advanced decline. He sits and watches Lawrence Welk and murmurs something about — Bob ' s Law? On the sports scene, DAVE BAKER is trying to get a basketball camp started. It was recently closed by the health department because of a natural gas leak in the locker room. BRUCE HAENNY and JEFF THOMAS are both coaches there. Due to lack of funds everyone is eating a lot of canned beans for meal. It looks as though this problem may never get solved! Down the road is TERESA THOMPSON ' S cheerleading camp. Her most promising pupils are SHERRY ASHCRAFT, PAM DAY, and PAULA CARRIER. Two of their favorite cheers are jump, shout, knock yourself out and give ' em the ol ' one-two. KATHLEEN MONTGOMERY and SHERI GALLOWAY have started a mini-cities Olympic committee. They have decided to boycott the games because our only competition, The Hillbilly Captors, refuse to send any¬ one to the games. This upset team members BLAINE CHAN HALL, karate expert, and BOB STREICH, our candidate for the American Drinking Team. As far as religious services in our little room, MARK LOVELACE is leading the Catholic delegation. Mark has been demoted after the world ' s shortest reign as pope — he finally broke his vows. Mark ' s congregation is closely following the progress of PEGGY PARKS, who is a mother for the first time. She is claiming the immaculate conception — part II, and we believe her. TAMMY MILES is a born-again Christian. She quoted some scripture for us. She says, An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and a finger for a finger? CHRIS LANE has started a cult related to hermitism. It ' s philosophy is to not socialize. Other members include JEFF RAWLINGS and LILLIE SHIPP. On the other side of the coin HUGH BENSCOTER is helping to further the sexual revolution with his new and improved PLAYPEOPLE Club. With KRISTI STUBBLEFIELD as head bunny, Hugh is forced to entertain guests with a little striptease act. You ' ve heard of Fast Freddie? Well pave the way for Hurry Hughie. While we were there, we saw BRAD ALLEN, a regular customer. He ' s still the same guy we all remember. He gave us a message for everyone but we had to be mindful of the seven words you can ' t use in the yearbook, so ... DAN BOYER, JIM CLIFTON, and ERIC WOOD are frequent visitors to the conven¬ ient pick-up window at the club in Dan ' s orange NOVA. CONNIE HOWLAND amd MIKE CONRAD just signed a one-million dollar contract to play the typical American family. They do several Sfove Top Stuffing commercials each year. DEBI SPELL is practicing polygamy. She travels under the name of Margaret Kabushki Ebucia Onimar. JOHN CLIFTON, who always liked to drive around, now chauffers Ms. Debi in his Volkswagen. She just drives around waiting for one of her husbands to die. DAN TOWNSEND is now head negotiator, he is in the corner trying to obtain our release from our cap- tors. The problem is that in the ten years we have been here, he hasn ' t stopped talking long enough for the hillbillies to get a word in edgewise. So there you have it — Seventy-two ways to beat HOSTAGE SYNDROME. Maybe the next President will be able to get us out of here!! 45 I just can ' t believe what I ' m hearing! I really did it this time. It goes something like this ... I ' ve got something NEW going on. Here today but gone tomor¬ row. Of course I did! Vv i Coffee, Tea Or Me???
