The 1974-75 Trojan Band had a great year under the direction of Mr. Ron Gerald with lots of help from Karen Morris as the drum majorette. The first performance of the year was in the Decatur Labor Day Parade. It was followed by a great show at homecoming. This year, color was added by having Pom-Pom girls. They performed precision drills during halftime at the football games. They also performed at basketball games. To finish out the winter season there was a festive Christmas concert. Another addition to this year’s schedule was the try¬ outs for the County Band Festival. Let’s take a trip across the coun¬ try to see how many of the class we can find, and see what they are doing now. As we board the plane for Los Angeles, the stewardess is none other than PAM ASHCRAFT. She takes us to our seats as the pilot begins to talk. We know that voice! It’s TIM WOODARD. Of course, it was the same way in high school - wherever Pam was, so was Tiui. Our first stop in California is to visit ANNETTE BRAGG. She is now a free-lance artist and doing very well. Annette tells us that JOHN KENNISON has a hat shop just down the street. We stopped in to see him, and John said that his hat business is much better here than in Illinois. We leave John and start back to the airport to continue our search. Our plane leaves in an hour, and while we are waiting, I glance at a paper. On the front page are photo¬ graphs. Why, the photographer is KARL HAUFFE! All that practice in high school sure paid off. Our next stop is Phoenix, Ari¬ zona, where NANCY DARLING and her family are meeting us at the airport. We are only staying long enough to catch our bus. Nancy tells us that STEVE BRANDT is now a professor at Arizona State University, but we all knew he liked Arizona best. We are also happy to see SUE ORRELL and RON TRAUGHBER here. They have just come from Denver, Colorado. They tell us that RICK BRANDT, MAC PIN- NEY, and TERRY SUMMERS are living there. It seems they like the Rocky Mountain atmosphere! Ron and Sue are always travel¬ ing , and they enjoy visiting new places! We have been traveling by bus for a few days, and since it’s Sunday we are stopping for church. The Reverend and his wife greet us, and to our sur¬ prise, his wife is KAREN MOR¬ RIS. Karen is very happy as a preacher’s wife. We catch a plane for Boston where we are going to watch the Celtics play. As we go in we see LONDA ALLEN who is here with KEN BARLOW. He is a rookie on the team. Mr. Ritter certainly taught him the finer points of the game. It was a good game and we wish we could stay longer but we must move on to New York for a few days. New York City is really busy, and they even have cops at cor¬ ners directing traffic. Who’s that on the corner? It’s KAREN LEACH! She’s still in the middle of things! We finally make it to our hotel and turn on the television to relax for a while. A special pro¬ gram is on. Why, it’s Mr. J. D. HARPER. Now he entertains the world - not just our high school! During a commercial, we realize that it is KEVIN BURKE advertis¬ ing Brilcream. We all knew he had pretty hair! The last several days we have heard that DAVID LIGHTFOOT has become a Wallstreet million¬ aire. His cry of ’’You Rascal! is heard all around the stock exchange! GREG WILSON is a successful lawyer and is very popular in all of the night clubs. ELAINE BLANCHARD is a concert pianist and is presently on tour in Eng¬ land. MIKE DAY is in Washing¬ ton, D.C. running for a seat in Congress. We are all rooting for you, Mike, and hope you win the election. MIKE HALE is a TWA pilot, and doing a great job keeping those planes in the air. DELORES RUBLE is running a Day Care Center in Iowa. I wonder why she chose that state??? KAY DEES plays in the New York Symphonic Orchestra and says that her practice in band has really helped her. We are nearing our last stop of the tour - Maroa - and it sure looks familiar. As we come into town, we see the black smoke coming from the school, and we begin to reminisce about our memories, however, we notice many new businesses in town. RICHARD ADAMS has taken over Kelley’s gas station and is doing well. CATHY CHANDLER is top waitress at the D R Cafe. DAVID HUMPHREYS is running the Maroa Auto Salvage, and instead of having the accidents he is cleaning them up! JIM SCROGGINS was always torn between cars and hair, so he has compromised. He now runs Maroa’s first drive-in barber¬ shop. LARRY THICKSTEN has taken over his dad’s position in the bank. How’s business, Larry? SHARON FOSTER is starting a new service station and it will be known as the ”Gas-Away Serv¬ ice. Our next stop is the school itself. I’m sure it has missed us! I see many of the class members are still around. PHYLISS ANDERSON is the new principal at M. F. H. S. I guess she missed all the fun she had here. DEBBIE BERRY has taken Mr. Scarlett’s place. No one else could have replaced him better! Mrs. Coen has retired and JENNIFER BLAZER has taken her place. CINDA WALTERS enjoyed chorus so much, she now is doing very well teaching it. Before we leave we look in on the ag. classes where we find CURTIS HILL doing a really great job in teaching his students. MARCIA DAGGETT teaches first grade and gets our children off to a good start. LIZ ESKEW teaches a semester course on ' How to Get Out of M.F.H.S. Early. ’ ' It seems to be very suc¬ cessful ! Many familiar faces are seen in Maroa. TONI FERRILL and GAY SHOEMAKER have joined acres and plows and are now known around town as ’’Farmer and Her Husband. ’’ The other farmers around are RICK HARRIS and JEFF HEINZ. JERRY CUN¬ NINGHAM is now Macon County Farm Advisor. All of those A’s in Ag finally paid off. 62 There is a basketball game in the gym tonight. MICHELLE GRIFFIN and LYNETTE McDANIEL are still taking money for the games. They must be rich by now. We stopped to talk with Michelle and Lynette and they had a lot of information for us on some of the class. JANE HAMILTON and CINDI HAINES are still very close. Now they have even more in common - their last names. DANNY EDWARDS has his own apartment which has all of the latest modern conveniences. BETH FLETCHER has a new convertible and can be seen speeding through Maroa quite often. RICHARD KITCHENS is still hanging around dating Freshman girls. There are a few classmates we haven’t found out about yet. Oh, there’s BRAD DEAL and SABRINA SCHULER. They are living in Decatur and said they can help us out. Brad and Sabrina just moved into a new home that Brad built himself. They tell us that JIM BRAGG is now the manager of Turn Style. He ' s moving up in the world! Also, they said that DEANNA WOOD is a surgical nurse at Decatur Memorial Hos¬ pital. DIANA CHILDRESS has just hit her 99th service truck and is on Sear’s ten most wanted list. DAVID DARBY was the driver, but wasn’t hurt. He always was lucky. CINDY FOULKE is advertising manager for the Cadillac com¬ pany. She just made a deal with BRENDA STONECIPHER. Brenda finally traded off her white Toy¬ ota! VICKI BRILLEY, THERESA GREUTMAN, and ELLEN TSCHAPPAT now have a chain of McDonald’s and are doing very well. Keep making those Big Mac’s” girls! We are told that PAUL ADAMS owns a one plane airport in Alaska and is known as ’’The Bird.” JANET OAKES has reached her goal. She is shortstop (and towel- girl) for the St. Louis Cardinals!!! DAN PERKINS has really done great. He ' s now manager of Wal¬ greens. All of RITA ROOSEVELT’S practice in P.E. has taken her far. She went to the 1984 Olym¬ pics and outran everyone. But hasn’t she always done that! In Sunday’s comics we see a familiar name. ROBERT CUR¬ RENT has a very successful and funny series. Mrs. Scarlett taught him well! Our last class members are abroad. TERESA CONSENTINO is living in Brazil and hopes to visit the United States again soon. She really liked it here. DEBBIE MARTIN is in the Marines carry¬ ing out her family tradition. RANDY GRIMM is now the Admi¬ ral of a fleet of ships in the Pacific Ocean and is really enjoying it. Our trip is complete since we have found every member of the Class of ”75.” I wonder what 1995 will bring?
