We were no longer the mighty eighth graders but the lowly Freshmen. We elected Richard Current as President, Kit Stoutenborough as Vice-President, Robin Malone as Secretary-Treasurer and our sponsors were Mrs. Berry and Mrs. Scannell. As enthusiastic Freshmen we worked very hard on our class float which was awarded first place with the theme Trojans a GO-GO. Although we were shy Freshmen we won the spirit stick quite a few times. In the fall of 68 we returned to school with seventy-eight Sophomores and elected the following offi¬ cers: Richard Current, President; Howard Osborn, Vice-President; Dennis Shookman, Treasurer; and Tish Schneider, Secretary. Our mighty sponsors were Mrs. Crane and Mrs. Scannell. After our winning Fresh¬ man float, we worked doubly hard, but received second this year with the theme Can the Pirates. We returned as upper classmen the fall of 69. The seventy-one Juniors elected John Thomley as President, Howard Osborn as Vice-President, Tish Schneider as Secretary, and Richard Current as Treasurer. This year our sponsors were Mrs. Crane and Mrs. Richardson. We built our best float ever which won first with the theme, Track ’em down, Choo-Choo ’em up. We hear she knows how to handle the taller patients. SHERRI SOUDERS now runs a private hospital called Sherri Souder ' s Sick Souls. GALE SRONCE is now an interior decorator. Her first project after graduation from college was MFHS. We hear she made it the beauty spot of Central Illinois. KIT STOUTENBOROUGH is now a lady sergeant in the WAC ' s. Those stars and stripes on her cheerleading uniform finally went to her head. TOM STOUTENBOROUGH is the owner of his very own stockyards. This way he can get rich quick and still judge livestock, and get his name in heavy black print . JOHN THOMLEY is now the President ' s advisor on racial equality. What a government!! GREG TOZER is a DATING processing engineer at Cape Kennedy. RICH UNDERWOOD is a barber. What a switch! His senior year he never got a haircut. JERRY WALLACE is now the FFA advisor at MFHS. He enjoyed his trip so much, he wanted to go again, and again, and again. LINDA WAITE is host of her famous television show - Girl Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk. BILL WEIKLE is now a star baseball player for the St. Loui$ Cardinals. His talent would never have developed had it not been for the terrific experience at good old MFHS. LUANN WIKOFF is the 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist in archery. BRUCE WILLIAMS has recently brought culture to Maroa by opening his new art gallery called William ' s Wonderful Works. CHRISTMAS AT M.F.H.S. Twas the week before Christmas, we hurried around. In planning our Christmas, we smiled, no one frowned. We began weeks ahead for we wanted this to be The best Christmas week that MHS would ever see. The concert on Monday started us out right. The band and the chorus performing with might. The audience was waiting for what was in store. The music, it rang from ceiling to floor. The band played four numbers, the chorus sang eight, This program by students really was great. The Hallelujah Chorus was the high point that night. Everyone was glad that it turned out just right. The speech classes were working on their program, too. Everyone helped, there was much work to do. They wanted to make it better than ones past. Because if they didn ' t, it might be the last. They practiced and practiced, then put on their acts. It was the greatest (no brag, just fact). The Culhanes were funny, of this they were proud. For The Twelve Days of Christmas, the laughter was loud. Santa and carolers and much more, too. And soon we all realized our hour was through. And it was heart all around as buses rolled out of sight. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
