CLASS HISTORY In 1962, our class of 71 members entered Maroa-Forsyth High School as humble fresh¬ men. Our sponsor for that year was Mr. Frank Johnson. For our class officers we chose: Larry Murphy, President; Jerry Dav¬ enport, Vice-president; Jane Morrisey, Sec¬ retary; Darrell Woolums, Treasurer; and Johnette DeCicco, Reporter. For our first Homecoming, we chose Barbara Traxler, Johnette DeCicco, Rick Leslie, and Darrel Woolums as our queen and king candidates. Our class won first prize with the float, Sink the Pirates. During the year we lost David Archer, Earl Bush, Roger Garren, David Hazen, Charlene Hitchens, Frank Owens, Bill Sanders, Pat Wikoff, Becky Moore, John Buchen, and David Bailey. We gained Ed Mardis. In 1963, we began our sophomore year with 60 members. Mrs. Patricia Maxwell was our sponsor. To represent our class we chose: Darrell Woolums, President; Rick Leslie, Vice-president, Janice Day, Secretary, and Tony Keyes, Treasurer. Our Homecoming float, Pull the Comets Down did not place. We chose Barbara Traxler, Viola Grissom, Mike Woodard, and Rick Leslie as our candidates. During the year, we lost George Flowers, Larry Murphy, Linda Surrena, Janet Pygott, and Meredith Hall. We gained Decie and Larry Huffaker. In the fall of 1964, we entered Maroa-Forsyth High as upperclassmen. Our 62 member class had Mr. Johnson for its sponsor. As class officers, we chose: Ron Ellis, President; David Kinkaid, Vice-president; Viola Grissom, Secretary, Tony Keyes, Treasurer, and Janice Day, Reporter. For the Homecoming festivities, we chose Par Weaver, Nancy Meador, Dennis Lienhart, and Mike Woodard as candidates. Our float, Blow ’em Down , took first prize. During the year our class presented the annual Jun¬ ior Play. Our play, entitled The Skeleton Walks , was a huge success. The long awaited Prom, the theme of which was, Rhapsody in Starlight bloomed into a bliss¬ ful evening. During the year we lost J. R. Buggar, Melvin Buggar, Larry Huffaker, and Jack Closser. We gained Pat Weaver, Mickey Steinman. and Larry Larsen. In 1965, we entered our alma mater for our final year. Our 56 member class, sponsored by Mr. Dennis Campbell and Mr. Larry Brandt, chose class officers as fol¬ lows: Henry Simpson, President: Jerry Davenport, Vice-president, Nancy Meador, Secretary, Pat Weaver, Treasurer; Dan Marsh, Reporter; and Steve Thrall, Sgt.-at- Arms. Our Homecoming float, Wipe ' em Out , failed to place. As candidates for Homecoming we chose: Linda Meece, Nancy Meador, Dan Marsh, and Jerry Daven¬ port. Our Senior Play, Gramercy Ghost , was an even greater success than our Junior Play. During our Senior year, we lost Janet Atz, Paula Beard, Judy Hall, Ray Klepzig, Jane Morrisey, and Patricia Robinson. We gained Ray Price and Barry Williams. To the generous mind the heaviest debt is that of gratitude, when it is not in our power to repay it TO THE FACULTY: - Franklin CLASS PROPHECY CAROLINE BARNETT, world famous singer, now does all the singing commercials for Kellogg’s Cereals. BOB BINGAMON is now English teacher at M.F.H.S. Jerry Lienhart, JR. is very quiet in class. Bob once hit his father with a sledge hammer! JANET BOOMER owns a Hawaiian Dance Studio. Thank you, Mrs. Wood! JERRY DAVENPORT is a football coach. He is quite an expert on teaching the art of tackling. (GIRLS!!) JANICE DAY is still nursing her sore little finger. I guess it comes from wrapping Tony around it all these years. JOHNETTE DECICCO is still spending 10 hours with Mr. Young. She just can’t seem to keep from calling him Brian . RON ELLIS is giving trumpet lessons. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson’s efforts! LESLIE GARDNER is now a famous comedian, magician, and acrobat. He will soon be featured at an assembly here at M.F.H.S. VIOLA GRISSOM is now manager of Avon Products. Ding! Dong! KAREN and SHAREN GROVES are now doing Doublemint commercials. In their spare time they are doing ads for Certs”. DICK HOWELL is now a doctor. He recently invented a pill to make people grow. His first patient was Mrs. Pam Howell. SHARON HUPP LOWE is a diamond expert; she just can’t seem to decide which one to keep. DECIE HUFFAKER owns Huffaker’s Auto Wrecking. He got his practice in Maroa. STAN IRVIN is now a famous forest ranger in Decatur’s Central Park. After all, Smokey the Bear can ' t be everywhere. TONY KEYES is the proud owner of the world ' s largest collection of Dixie Cups. He stores them in the back seat of his car. MARGO KLEPPER is now Mrs. Darrell Miller. Most of her time is spent watching the 7 little Millers. DAVID KINK AID now has his own barber shop. His business thrives around time for basketball tryouts. LARRY LARSEN owns Shopper ' s World in Decatur. That ' s really working your way up! BEVERLY LEACH has finally found the right man for her. By the way, it ' s the tenth right man in the last nine years. RICK LESLIE is now basketball coach at M.F.H.S. Now he knows what Mr. Walker had to go through! DENNIS LIENHART is still working his way through college by hiding out in Lover’s Lane with his trusty camera - selling the pictures later. JERRY LIENHART is now president of the Jerry Lienhart Fan Club. We understand the membership is one. Guess who? BILL MCGUIRE is still trying to explain to Mrs. Wood that he does not ride a Honda. It is a Yamaha. Y-A-M-A-H-A ! liNDA PORTER MCKEE is part-time secretary, full-time mother. If she isn ' t hearing the tap-tap of her typewriter, it’s the pitter-patter of little feet. ED MARDIS better known as Ed the Red has just been named Mr. World. Guess those muscles were good for something. DAN MARSH is now owner of Barding Pontiac. He decided if he couldn’t beat ’em, he’d join ' em. But, he still calls them dogs instead of tigers . ETHEL MATHEWS is now the owner of a hearing aid factory. She has a thriving business selling them to people who want to hear her. JESSE MATHEWS now owns Squeak’s Pool Hall. It saves a lot of money when you own the place! NANCY MEADOR is a cheerleader at Brown ' s Business College where she is brushing up her shorthand and typing. LINDA MEECE is now a famous make-up artist for Paramount Studios. She got her start in the Junior and Senior Plays. DARRELL MILLER is a prosperous farmer. He raises vegetables to feed all the little Millers. JACK MOSLEY still thinks he ' s the Purple Elf, and he refuses to give up his itty-bitty skate board. CHESTER OHLEMEYER is now a skilled and famous cabinetmaker. Who needs Mr. Jennings when we have Chester. FRED PLUMMER owns a stockyard in Chicago. He had to get rid of his Ag projects. RAY PRICE is now a photographer for the New York Times, but he still takes the pic¬ tures for the Trojanaire. RON RUNYEN and a group of Hawaiian girls are having a contest to see who can grow the longest hair. DANNY SCHICK is the only person who ever cleaned out a Volkswagon engine - com¬ fortably! SELWYN SHAW is a famous race driver. He has already won the Indy 500. Maybe someday he ' ll master Mason ' s parking lot. HENRY SIMPSON just finished the third volume of his collection, Is It True Blondes Have More Fun? BUTCH SMITH is one of Mike Windlan ' s regular customers. MICKEY STEINMAN now owns and operates that famous summer resort - Montezuma Hills. CONNIE STONE is a dedicated nurse at D MC Hospital, and we’re trying to get her to give the Freshmen their eye and ear tests. STEVE THRALL is principal at M.F.H.S. We understand that he and Mr. Wood had a few different ideas. PAT TOWNSEND still plays his famous Pomp and Circumstance around graduation time every year at M. F. H. S. BARB TRAXLER, now an optometrist, has devised contact lenses with little flashing lights, so they are easy to find if they fall out. PAT WEAVER has just been defeated by Pam Ellis in a contest to see who could laugh loudest, longest and highest. JIM WEIKLE recently re-opened the El-Roa Inn. We understand that Jim went into a slump when it burned down a few years ago. STEVE WHITAKER has a famous rock ' n ' roll band. The group went straight to the top after Steve finally let his hair grow. BARRY WILLIAMS is owner of General Electric, Inc. That shows you what tinkering with electronics can do! MIKE WINDLAN has a beauty salon. He had to have someplace to get his hair straight¬ ened. MIKE WOODARD is still running from some scraggly girl that came out of his Brylcream tube.
