A. Chx, f-fi tvuj In the fall of ' 57 we entered Maroa High School as a class of 60 enthusiastic Freshmen with Mrs. Berry, who was to lead us through our next four years, as our Advisor. To lead our class we elected President Judy McCool, Vice-President Lloyd Murphy, Secretary Marcia Walters, and Treasurer Tina Boyd. Looking forward to our first Homecoming Dance we chose as our King and Queen Candi¬ dates J. Williams, J. McCool, L. Murphy, and G. Archey . We received first place on our homecoming float Next in the line of events came the Christmas Dance. We elected J. McCool, S. Boyer, N. Lehman, and L. Murphy as candi¬ dates. During the year we lost K. Albright, and H. Ward; we gained K. Erlen- busch, B. Reed, J. Perkins, and J. Etnier. In the fall of ' 58 we began our second year at Maroa High with a little less enthusiasm, but with a year of experience behind us. This year we gained J. Thiele, M. Osgood, L. Journey, and D. Alexander, bringing our class to a total of 67 students. We elected J. Thiele as President, John Perkins as Vice-President, Alan Marsh as Secretary, and Melvin Feathers as Treasurer. As homecoming candidates we elected J. Williams, J. Hinkly, J. Thiele, and J. Perkins. When Christmas rolled around once more, we chose J. Hinkly, T. Boyd, L. Murphy, and J. Perkins, as candidates for the dance. As the year ended once more, we had lost S. Dawson and D. Probst. Our Junior year finally came, and it was filled with lots of projects and fun. To lead us this year was Tina Boyd, President; Sharon Boyer, Vice-President; Bob Howell, Secretary; and Judy McCool, Treasurer. Our biggest projects were the Junior Prom and our Junior Play entitled, Paint the Town Pink.” With Home¬ coming once more before us, we chose as our candidates, J. Hinkle, T. Boyd, J. Perkins, and L. Murphy, and J. Williams. This year we gained E. Wallis, I. Bivens, N. Foster, M. Moyer, and M. Foster; we lost J. Perkins, E. Wallis, R. Allsup, and L. Journey, to give us a class of 65 students. At last our class of 1961 started our fourth and final year at Maroa High with 58 students. Over the summer we lost M. Hupp, L. Hayes, R. Garfoot, and M. Foster; we gained M. Booher and M. Watson. Our officers for this year were Gary Archey, President; Claudia Moberly, Vice-President; Mary Moyer, Secretary; and Sharon Boyer, Treasurer. As homecoming candidates, we chose J. Williams, J. Hinkle, L. Murphy, and G. Archey. Gary Archey and Juanita Williams were chosen to reign over the dance. Next came our final Christmas Dance with Mary Moyer and Howard Hoyland chosen as Queen and King. The other candidates from our class were J. Marshall and M. Booher. Our final project for our class was the Senior Play, ’’Too Young, Too Old.” After four years of work and fun we leave Maroa High with many unforgetable memories. She proudly told me of the following accomplishments: GARY ARCHEY has recently been elected governor of Illinois. He won by polling S9° o of the women ' s votes. RONNIE BROWN is now a bullfighter in Mexico. MELVIN FEATHERS has built a bowling alley in which he has eliminated the gutters. KAREN FOX has just completed her new book I LOVED THREE LIVES. ALAN MARSH is currently appearing on a national TV show, The Lineup. BILLYE REED is now managing the world’s largest animal farm. The chief product is billye-goats. BEVERLY PULLIAM has recently taken over the management of the Community Center. LAVON RILEY has just inherited the Riley estate which consists of a flower shop. JUANITA WILLIAMS has just invested in her fifth Wilson Tidy-Didy Diaper Service. LLOYD MURPHY is now playing pro football with the Baltimore Colts. LINDA SMITH is now the proud mother of 7 little Satches. LORETTA COOPER has recently started her job at International Airlines. JANET BOLTON has just replaced Mrs. Irvin as Secretary of Maroa High School KAREN ERLENBUSCH is living in Morocco with one of the natives, (Maroa natives, of course). DAVID HOFFMAN is now head coach at Maroa High. He is coaching girls ' tumbling. MARILYN WATSON has started her own personal advice bureau for distraught people. SONNY SCHROLL runs a mushroom plantation in Africa with the rest of his African relatives. JANET MARSHALL recently announced her surprised engagement to Jim Thiele. SHARON BOYER is taking a 5 to 10 year vacation from the Bank of Maroa. MARGIE TOOLEY has replaced Tugboat Annie on TV. ARDELLA CLIFTEN has replaced Bonnie Pruden as exercise instructor in a popular magazine. CONNIE SINKOSKY owns Frank’s Super Market. JUDY HINKLE has recently moved to Florida where she is fishing . . . (for a man, that is.) HANK HOCKADAY just received a blue ribbon for the grand Champion Steer at the County Fair for the eighth year in a row. JOE WILLARD is currently the holder of the land speed record (on Jasper Street). HOWARD HOYLAND is now the owner of the Circle Inn. His number one carhop is Mrs. Hoyland who is the former MARY MOYER. BOB HOWELL has taken over the management of the Ruble Funeral Home. DAVID GARREN moved to Africa where he has become chief bongo instructor for the natives. JOE BLAZER is currently appearing on the Wyatt Earp show as the fastest left¬ hander on TV. NORMAN LEHMAN was recently nominated for the presidency of the Farm Bureau. NORMAN ETNIER was just initiated into the ”200 Car Wrecks in a Lifetime” Club. DAVID LEMONS is now the head of the English department at Maroa High, replacing Mr. Shafer. DALE ALEXANDER is now the proud papa of twelve little ” Alexs. ” SUSAN McQUIRE is head of occupational therapy at the Decatur and Macon Co. Hospital. BILL LEIMBACH is now in Decatur Macon County Hospital due to a broken leg suffered when he fell in a pig hole on his farm. NANCY FOSTER is the Vice-President of Lazell Hardware Company. IRENE BIVENS has replaced Betty Crocker as a food authority. BOB BIRGE has just retired to his mansion at Maroa after making his five millionth hula hoop. MARK OSGOOD just published his first best seller. TIS BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST THAN NEVER TO HAVE LOVED AT ALL. GENE GROVES has just taken over Camera Arts Studio in Decatur, Illinois. SUZIE SPRECKELMEYER has just discovered a new rocket fuel which will enable her to be the first woman to land on the moon. MARCIA WALTERS is now a famous model and has just collected her millionth trip behind the Magic Door. JIM ETNIER has replaced Mr. Boyd as football coach at Maroa High.
