Outlaw Hand lwws Pride In I 9 77 ..-i 'hr - , .,., A - H, M. ' ,Q ' -31:4 5- f in iff' ,' A . ff Outlaw Band Practices show for GREATEST BAND in Dixie Competition at New Orleans Mardi Gras. A tour of the Mississippi by steam- boat was given to the band. The next day saw the Outlaw Band taking part in the Greatest Bands In Dixie Mardi Gras parade. The parade was viewed by over a million people along the parade route. The Outlaw Band was met with great enthusiasm with hun- dreds along the way screaming their approval of the band representing Oklahoma. The competition was held in the middle of the distance where the band gave the Outlaw version of the Charleston and the Hustle while playing Way Down Yonder in New Orleans and Horse , The band received a superior trophy for their parade show and performance. It has been an honor for us to be a part of the Outlaw Band where the traditional pride of its members is sincere and the people behind the program are truly dedicated. The '77 Outlaw Band raised spirit at pep assemblies, football games, basketball games, and participated in competition at every chance. The entire band took part in District Marching Contest and District Concert Contest. Many chose to compete for additional honors such as All-Region Band and District En- semble Contest. Marlow was well represented at All-Region, and Dis- trict Ensemble Contest. saw eight qualify for state competition. The band's hard work was reward- ed with a trip to the Mardi Gras at New Orleans with the help of the Band Parems. The band was conditioned for the parade at Mardi Gras by mar- ching every day, working up to forty blocks. Two chartered buses were taken.
