Class History We entered the halls of Marlinton High School in 1961 full of pride, confidence, and eager anticipation . However, our outlook was changed greatly; and it took us most of the year to get into the swing of things. Under the leadership of our sponsor, Mrs. Killingsworth and Mr. Wooddell we selected the following officers: Bernard King-- President Charlotte Sharp--Vice-President Dolores Jackson--Secretary and Treasurer Pat McComb--Reporter The following fall we entered into school with a feeling of superiority to know that at last we were sophomores. This year we elected as our officers: Bernard King--President Pat McComb--Vice-President Diana Robinson-- Secretary Dolores Jackson--Treasurer Linda McNellan--Reporter Our sophomore year was a very demanding one, and with the leadership of our sponsors Mrs. Currence and Mr, Brill we proceeded along our bumpy road. At last we were juniors. The officers we chose that year were: David McLaughlin- -President . David Sheets--Vice-President Diana Robinson- - Secretary Linda McNellan--Treasurer Chuck Davis--Reporter Mrs. Moore and Mr. Francis McElwee were our sponsors. It was certainly our biggest year and full of excitement. First of all we received our class rings, secondly, we had the thrill of presenting the class play, Pride and Prejudice directed by Mrs. Moore and Mr. Brill. Our final thrill included the memorable junior prom and the junior-senior banquet. The year we had all been waiting for had finally arrived. At last we were seniors. To prepare ourselves for the senior year, full of exciting activities and outstanding achievements, we selected a strong slate of officers. They were as follows: David McLaughlin--President Robert Michael--Vice-President Nancy Tibbs- - Secretary Linda McNellan--Treasurer Under the leadership of our beloved sponsors, Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Charles E. McElwee, we tried to prepare our¬ selves for the changing world ahead of us. Our senior year was full of various activities. Our senior play, The Man Who Came To Dinner, directed by Mrs. Bailey, was our first highlight. We worked on our own Marlintonian, and selected our colleges and jobs. Ouryear was followed up by the junior-senior prom and banquet. There are few of us looking forward to summer vacation this year because we know that we will never again be a part of the joyous events of the high school years. These are the greatest years of our lives and we are most grateful to those who have pushed us on and made it possible for us to graduate in the most important year, 1965.
