Scholarship Team Ranks High The scholarship team vvas composed of stu- dents vvith district and state rankings in scholarship tests. To qualify, team members first had to rate among the top four in the preliminary qualifying tests, vvhich were given in each major subject. Students then advanced to district competition. Top scorers advanced finally to state competition. Because of the large number of students participating, high rankings vvere difficult to achieve. Seven stu- dents attained top scores in state tests, vvith three students placing and four earning hon- orable mentions. The scholarship tests are given each spring, and scholarship team competition begins again. 41 Qxl . Seniors Receive Awards Seniors excelling in areas of English, language, math- ematics, home economics, vocational agriculture, industrial arts, business education, social studies, and science are honored annually by the Lexington Awards. Students achieving the highest point averages in the above categories are rated by teachers on a one to five basis in regions of scholastic enthusiasm, leadership, character, industry, initiative, reliability, social acceptibility, emotional stability, co-operation, and social concern.
