On October 3, a spirited Duke Football team captured a well-earned victory over West Branch Warriors to give the 1969 Homecoming a grand start. At special pre-game and half-time ceremonies, the Duchess and her court were presented to the fans by lVlr. Robert lVloore. Attired in a fall suit, each girl was escorted by her father as the band played lVlore. Saturday evening the annual dance was held with the theme Time of the Season. A fall atmosphere of pumpkins, gourds, and corn shocks prevailed to carry out the theme. Couples danced to the music of Paul Q 4' f' Halverstadt's Orchestra and were served cider and doughnuts during the evening. At 9 o'clock, attendants were escorted to the throne where retiring Duchess Debra Breit crowned her successor. Enhanced in a cloud of mist, Leslie Lanzer reigned as Duchess. The royal court and escorts were Dean Swift, Jackie Bobart, Sophomore attendant, Steve Taylor, Laura Williams, Senior attendant, lVlike Flinn, Leslie Lanzer, Duchess, Thomas Liberti, Debra Breit, retiring Duchess, James Swartz, Diane Scott, Junior attendant. Diane Schillig and Curt Taylor sample the cider and doughnuts. 19 Karen Linder and Rick Brown sit quietly as Sandy Petre and Bill Lutz enjoy each others company.
