Concert Bands Have Successful Season 1,5 The Symphonic Band is seen practicing for their concert held on February 13. ffm WE' Fw The concert bands' successful season was attributed to their hard work and effort. ln their first performance, the Winter Concert, the Symphonic Band played Golden Boy, Winter Scene, and The King and l. The Concert Band's numbers included Fete Triumphal, Ballet Egyptian, and the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet. The concert ended with the mass band playing Stars and Stripes Forever. Near the end of the school year the Symphonic Band traveled to the three elementary schools, and performed for the students, who enjoyed it very much. The lVIarlington Stage Band was host for the annual Stage Band Clinic held in the spring. Bobby Rosengarden, orchestra leader on the Dick Cavett Show, was the guest conductor. lVlr. Rosengarden brought several members of his orchestra to the clinic to help the students in various techniques. This ended the season for these bands on a successful note. i X! lf!!! The Pep ,Band played at all the home basketball games, encouraging the fans and players. Along with the activities during the games the Pep Band also played at halftime while the majorettes, twirlers, and feature twirlers showed exceptional skill through the many routines. The Eighth Grade Band members found that the music this year was more challenging than that played in previous years. But they realized that to get into the Marching Band they would have to work develop- ing techniques so they practiced very hard. By the end ofthe year they were ready to join the Marching Band and showed much talent and promise for the new marching season.
