Marching Band Gains Fame 7 ...sf ,M 'fp-on The band members selected Miss Kathy Adams as their 1969 Band Queen, and Jack Wyles as her escort. The Marching Dukes gained fame as they ex- panded their activities throughout the year. Aside from the spectacular half-time shows, many with dance routines and lights, the band also performed at the Ohio State Fair and Stark County Fair. The marching band participated in many parades, includ- ing the Hall of Fame Parade in Canton, the Ohio Swiss Festival Parade at Sugarcreek, and the Carna- tion City Parade in Alliance. The Duke's marching season reached its climax when the band traveled to Glenville, West Virginia, to take place in the home- coming festivities of Glenville State College, where they marched in a parade and put on a half-time show. Dave Kump, Drum Major, and feature twirlers Terrie Hillman and Debbie Nelson added much to the band's performances, twirling to The Horse, Watusi Trumpets, and twirling fire to Joshua.
