Although vacancies were left by senior lettermen of 1968, they were filled quite well by some first year track men. Mike Flinn took over the spots left by Ed Rowland and John Pfeifer in the high jump and pole vault respectively. This being his first year on the squad, Mike showed tremendous skill in these two events and copped many firsts. Returning letterman Daryl Hole came on strong throughout the season in the shot put and discus. Others who performed well during the season were Gary Acierni and Rick Lauener in the hurdles and first year man Steve Kimes in the broad jump. The 880 yard relay team consisting of Mike Flinn, Steve Kimes, William Rastetter, Jim Cutting was one of the toughest in the county as they proved at the county meet. Coaching cannot be overlooked as a point of merit. Coach Koppel did a superb job of keeping the team going to post a winning record for the season. Flinn, Ron Miller, Dean Oyster, Bill Rastetter, Rick Lauener. Row 4: Steve Richard, Richard Howell, Bob Kimpton, Andy Zufall, Terry Hoover, Roger Hoover.
