Henry Simmons and Don Frank had not played much together during their freshman year, and each one had to adjust to having another big player on the same team. Gary Sherman was the leading scorer and was also the player that held the team together. Coach Schnoke felt that the Dukes were lacking on defense, not offense. They were third in the Federal League in scoring which proves they weren't lacking in offense. Rebounding was another place where there was room for improvement. Coach Schnoke felt that the team would be better next year since they would be more experienced in playing together, and also, they would have a better foundation with which to start. The Duke captain, Gary Sherman surpassed Luke Witte's scoring record for one game of 48, by scoring 49 points in a single game. Also, Gary was the leading scorer in Stark County this year.
