Throughout the year, they had speakers, programs, and special activities aimed at the teaching profession. During American Education Week, members presented the faculty with small gifts, including carnations, apples, and paddles. Members worked as receptionists in the guidance office during their study halls. The club was advised by Miss Carol Bartha. The duties of hall guides and office help ranged from getting mail to assisting the principals. The office help aided the secretaries by keeping attendance records, delivering the absence lists, and many other odd jobs. Hall guides paged students, delivered material to teachers, and assisted students. They proved a great help to faculty, students, and administration. Student Librarians worked daily in the library aid- ing Mrs. Franks and Mrs. Zellers. They learned the system of filing books and helped keep the library run- ning smoothly. Programs included several book reviews and a Christmas Party. The club was advised by head librarian Helen Franks, assisted by Mrs. Zellers. ,ff like aa. Malone, Beth Pearson, Frances Hunter. Dramadukes Excel in Performances The great dramatic ability of the Dramadukes and Thespians dazzled audiences in their performances of Curious Savage directed by Mr. Purviance and Rest Assured directed by Mrs. K. Turner and Mr. Dennis. Curious Savage was a humorous play with a serious thought behind it. Mrs. Savage, played by Shauna Zurbrugg, put all of her wealth into negotiable bonds. Her children, however, portrayed by Vallene Hard- man, Carey Rochester, and Steve Blake, had different plans. They put her in a mental hospital and tried desperately to find out where their mother had hidden the bonds. Mrs. Savage, not to be outwitted, sent each of her children on a wild goosechase. The results of the chase and other characters in the play, made Curious Savage a play to remember. The play, Rest Assured, began as wealthy Mr. Morlock, played by Steve Blake, refused to allow his daughter, Candy Kimes to marry Tom Liberti, the son of Luigi, portrayed by Dave Wallace. One night while asleep, Mr. Morlock dreamed Luigi had died and was haunting him until he gave consent for the marriage. Mr. Morlock, as stubborn and selfish as ever, still refused. Soon afterwards he also died,'and was going to be sent to the world below . lt was at this time that Mr. Morlock realized what a bad hus- band and father he had been. When he awakened from this dream, he gave consent for the marriage and vowed to change his ways. The entire production was a well presented comedy. fl! - 535 , , .... ,rf .eff .W --i ' 1 'sf 'Mp' ...,. ff ' A . . is ' Luigi, played by Dave Wallace, enioys life as he rests his head on the lap of Miss Akers, portrayed by Karen Kitzmiller.
