Scenario Records Year's Activities Karen Newhouse-Typist, Claire Lutton, Flon Laurie Williams-Typist. A 5 if . 5 5 5 at I Dimit-Photographers, The task of producing a yearbook to please the students, administration, and critics was the objective of the 1969-70 Scenario staff. They created a different book from previous years by introducing new ideas. This year the theme, A Face in the Crowd was used to distinguish the individual from the group and was carried throughout the opening section and divider pages. These were featured by expanding the usage of color pictures in response to their great approval in past annuals. The Scenario achieved a new book by displaying the school colors on the cover. The students in each section were responsible for making layouts, writing copy, captions, and headlines, selecting and cropping pictures, making picture lists, proofreading, and making duplicates of everything. Meetings were held several times during the summer to introduce new members to the procedures of making the book and to brief returning members on new rules. The staff was also required to stay after school in order to meet forthcoming deadlines. During the summer and at the beginning of the school year, advertisements were sold by staff members to help pay for the cost of the book. The reason for the rise in cost of this year's Scenario to the student was due to higher publication costs. As a reward for the staff's hard work, a banquet was held in the spring to celebrate the success of another Scenario. l Julie Hoover-Seniors Larry DeLion-Business Manager Paul Dreger-Assistant Business Manager 99

'Shield' informs Students After devoting much time and talent to produce a news- paper representing the students, the Sheild staff completed a very successful year. Bi-monthly editions of the paper were published containing articles of interest to all stu- dents. These included reports of sports events, current events, editorials, crossword puzzles, humorous articles, and calendars of coming events. A column for letters to the editor also gave students a chance to voice their opinions. Everyone on the staff contributed ideas for the articles. The best were selected to be used in the paper. The typed articles were checked by lVliss Carli and then sent to the Alliance Review, which published the paper. They were sent back as copy to be proofread by the staff. After correcting the mistakes, the articles were sent back to the Review to be printed as the Shield. lVliss Carli and the editor chose their staff from students with a high average in English. IVlany of the staff members have an interest in journalism. Staff members also learn much concerning journalism through special speakers, books, and films. Each year they have sponsored a sock- hop to raise money which benefits the Shield. lViiss Nancy Carli-Adviser t '-ev. 1 Wi 2 ie i f ww I we Q1 s Qs ,,,,,ag5fm ,-.f. .f inite-,M .'vvf. ,, .,, -- , ' T f'f- s I .,.. s T' 'i L I ' 1 1' ',,, . ....,'i ' ' 'r sss' Q' gtffi-fwftff-,.., ,-ff wf,..,. 1J?3Q'?4v1jfii-f , 11.4. ,wikis :sz-5'-.3 ' , l , . 1 ' fr? 4- t -f f wwe msft'eM,s - 11.
