Myers, National Honor Society Recognized Students National Honor Society is a nation-wide organization, and membership is recognized as one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a high school student. Mem- bers are chosen on the basis of leadership, character, scholarship, and service. A 3.2 cumulative average is required for member- ship, and all junior and senior students meeting this requirement are rated by the faculty, the votes are then collected and counted by the principal. The list of new members is not disclosed until the induction ceremonies. New members are initiated in March of each year in an impressive and solemn candle lighting service. lt is truly an honor to become a member of this organi- zation, and congratulations should be ex- tended to those who achieved this. How much do you think she's worth? Latin Club Sold Slaves Members of Latini Socii were students who were taking their second, third, or fourth year of Latin. Meetings were held in the evenings and featured various programs. The sophomores attended both a dignified formal initiation, and the of- ficers conducted a rough welcome for the new members. In February the new members were auctioned off as slaves. The slaves had to obey their masters and serve them as loyal subjects at the Roman banquet in March. Mr. Russell Newburn was a guest speaker this year and showed color slides on Italy and Greece.
