At first glance, it seems that chemistry, public speaking, and industrial arts are quite different. However, all three are lab courses. Chemistry students learn laws, formulas, and equations in lecture sessions. On lab days they apply the theories studied to prac- tical situations. Speech students learn that the motor, vibrators, resonators, and articulators work together to produce words. They then learn to improve their speaking by controlling pitch, tempo, and fear. Drawing students start their studies by becoming acquainted with the triangle, board, compass, and T-square. They start the lab work by drawing lines at different angles and progress to floor plans and lettering. Students Gain Practical Experience tram Lab Courses ll ..,... N353
