B LLDOGS OPEN WITH A WINNER Marlin Rolls Over Rosebud The Bulldogs, who lost to the Cougars last year, had re- venge in their eyes. Fruidenberg started by passing to Ray Shorter for one score and then passed to Tommy jackson for another. The half time score was 13-O. In the second half Fruiden- berg took the snap and plunged over for the Bulldogs' final score. The Marlin defense was very tough in le t- ting the Cougars score ONLY 6 points. In the first quarter ofthe game, it was almost a dead lock. Neither team could get it together. Before the half ended, Fruidenberg passed to White for the touchdown. The two extra point try was good. Half time score was Marlin 8 and Waxahachie 0. The In- dians scored in the fourth quarter but were denied the point-after try, and the Bulldogs had their first district win ofthe 1974 season. SEASON OF SURPRISES, Marlin Mudde rs jeff-Moore The Bulldogs were out for their third consecutive win which had not been done since 1968. In the first quar- ter action the dogs looked doomed. The Lions got the lead. Fruidenberg started passing to Shorter and jackson for short gainers and then hit Screws for a touchdown. Martinez connected with Screws for the two PAT. The score at the half was 8-7. Second half action consisted mainly of Marlin defense. Fruidenberg passed to White for a score. Moore scored once, but the Dogs held on for the win. Midway Surprise s Marlin After the previous wins, the Dogs didn't seem very high for the game. lt showed that this was going to be hazardous to their record. Midway jumped out into a lead by scoring in the first quarter. Marlin managed to score before the halfand tied the game 7-7.
