New horizons open for him in vocabulary and also in grammar and history. He trans- lates Greek and Roman legends that are a part of world literature. This was the first year that summer delivery of the yearbook had been instituted and the student body started off the year autographing madly. Seniors who had worried about getting their yearboolcs after leaving school found that it was quite simpler to come pick them up in Aug- ust and found they could also greet their friends again before going their independent ways. The 1972 yearbook set quite a precedent by winning 4 University Interscholastic League Press Conference Silver medals. The U.I.L. judging of the yearbooks was started last year, and the Viesca was submitted for crit- icism as it was this year, but at press time no report had ' been made for current awards. The new school building provided a new dark room 5 in connection with the journalism department which is far more convenient and complete for the photographers, who spent many frantic hours in its confines. The Bulldog Staff with Cathy Kotter as editor and Mrs. Elizabeth Allen as sponsor put out 14 editions of our school paper in 73-74. For the first few issues, the BULLDOG was printed professionally, but with the concerted effort of Miss Dail Bauerschlag, student teacher in-journalism, the staff switched to the school pressfor publication. Mr. Ronnie Scholz and his Of- fice Duplication students did much to effect this trans ition. Not only did staff members benefit from doing their own paste-ups and learning make-up of news- papers from the ground up, but this process proved cheaper, and news reached the student body while relatively fresh.
