HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF '58 The class of '58 started on its rocket ride through school in the fall of 1946. The original crew was: Cliff Lamie, Don Redmond, Don Ross, Jack Thornton, Sandra Thornton, Doris Lambert, Ruth Curtis, Joe Riley, Dick Harris, Clarence Steinman, Betty Mahaffy, Pat Sullivan, John Goodwine, Larry Weigert, Brent Dunsford, Gene Lamie, Jim Woods, Shirley Weaver, Dick Forbes, Wayne Peterson, Janice Wilson, Pat Caister, Dorothy Ken' nedy, Frank Vizard, Robert Cargill, Dave Hurd, Harold Raven, Richard Faszczewski, Juanita Ross, Shirley Lewitt, Joe Sanchez, Jim Ruggles, Jay Potter, Donneita Jickling, Ruthann Potter, and Sharon Patrick. Our flight through high school began in September of 1954. Joe Sanchez held the controls of our rocket, with Gene Lamie as his co-pilot. Joy Sheridan recorded our pro- gress, with Pat Sullivan guarding our feeble treasury. Bob Lilley spoke for us at Student Council . As outsiders we were welcomed to high school by initiation, followed by a fine Freshman-Sophomore banquet. In our Sophomore year, Bob Lilley stepped to the wheel with Bob Oberle as his assistant. The secretary's book went to Charles Cousins, and Barbara Ross paid the bills. Lauren Hager took Bob's place at Student Council. After initiating the little green men, we held a feast in their honor. ln September of 1956, Junior space licenses were awarded to President Joe Riley, Vice- President Don Ross, Secretary Andrea Riedel, Treasurer Bob Oberle, and Student Council Representative Lauren Hager. Cur first project, the Junior Play, was named Father Was A Housewife. Shortly after this roaring success, we went to Dow Chemical in Midland for the day. Next on the calendar of events came the Junior-Senior Banquet, where we bid the graduating Seniors farewell. Our Junior year was climaxed by the J-Hop, using Stairway To The Stars as the theme. On the last leg of our flight, Don Ross acted as captain, and Jim Ruggles helped him steady our rocket. Joanne Murray kept track of the crew while Joe Sanchez took care of the now large treasury. Commentator at Student Council was Bob Lilley. The stars that shown brightest in our galaxy were: a beautiful Senior Prom, Oriental Gardens , the hilarious Senior Play, Headin' For a Weddin ', Senior Day in Detroit, the Junior-Senior Banquet, fthank you, Class of '59!l and the Senior Tea. lt was agreed by all that the five day trip to New York was 'out of the world' . We realized that our high school days were gone for- ever with Class Day, Baccalaureate and Commencement. We, as the Class of '58, would like to thank the administration and the faculty for guiding us through the air pockets we hit in our flight. Best wishes to all the Seniors- to-be, and we hope you will enjoy your years in high school as much as we did. 9
