This school was started about June 15 by the Vollmer Construction Company of Saginaw, the Bay City Plumbing and Heating Company and Electrician Lloyd Teets of Snover. The school is expected to be open for use by September, 1955. The building consists of two kinder- garten rooms and twelve classrooms for the grades first through fourth. The School has the following rooms alsog clinic room which may be used for the health program, teacher room, three storage rooms, a book room in which books may be repaired, principa1's office and a room which may be used for group instruction and speech correction. The multi-use room is 35 feet by 55 feet. This may be converted into use as a cafeteria by letting down nine in-wall tables. Various community gatherings will make good use of this room also. There is a kitchen adjoining this. At present, the school board, teachers Janitors and grade school principal are busy at the job of selecting furniture and other necessary equipment. S 1 IIEIllUA'l'l0 As a means of honoring Mrs. Robert Rudd for her effort and contributions as a sponsor and teacher to the Marlette Community High School, the Annual Staff dedicates this book to her. Her kind and sincere temperament has been a source of inspiration and a stabilizing influence to many students of this school. Mlhlkllll Your 23 years of service to the teaching profession has proved that you never lose sight of that faith, that inspiration, that patience, that vision which is the part of your life that you share with your students. On behalf of the Annual Staff, it is a genuine pleasure and great honor to dedicate this book to you as a symbol of our appreciation. And with it go our best wishes for all the years to come. 3 AIIMI I TRATIO 'ji 'WX pl ish- MR, ALFRED AIXIUNDSEN H fl Supcrinlcndcm NR. NNUAL TAFF In a dank and dreary cavern beneath the shower room stairs, this pictured crew has labored throughout the year to produce the SCRIBE that you now hold in your hands. Wails of anguish, crys of despair, and moans of melancholy have echoed and re-echoed in these cramped confines. As deadline followed deadline, the hurley-burley of the unfinished or semi-finished work has reared its ugly head threaten- ing the good humor of the sponsor, the sanity of the staff, and the patience of the editors. Assisted by our man of many pictures, Mr. Bloss, this book has slowly taken form. We submit this, the 1955 SCRIBE, in humble tre- pidation hoping it will meet with your approval and serve as a reminder in the years yet to come of a memorable year in both your life and the life of the school. 42 Class Session- UHATTEIHWX TAFF t Editor-in-Chief . Conditions, in the past few years, have changed sufficiently to justify the inauguration of a student coun- cil system of government. The Student Council is composed of the President and Student Council Representative from each class and the President of each club or organi- zation. Student government should be representative, and it was to this end that these students were incorporated into this system. The Council members may be called upon at any time to settle a pro- bleni or prepare a plan of action concerning an activity. The Student Coun- cil strives not only to enforce rules, but they attempt to aid any student individually. The members of the Council feel the importance of tying the student body and faculty closer together, and having more cooperation With- in the school. 1 W ' ' W V fffllfyl X ffm, ROW lg Dick Cuister, Marilyn Foster, Billie Jubb, Mary Wilson, Ron Willis, Treasnrerg Put Redmond, Secreniryg Doug Vnrter, Vice-President, Jack Kelly, President. During National FHA Week, October 31-November 6, our chapter required all the members to wear red and white ribbons and their FHA pins. On the opening day, the chapter met at Teale's Cafe for breakfast and attended the morning service at the Marlette Baptist Church. On November 1, the high school faculty members, the administration, the cooks and the janitors were each given a red rose, the flower of our organization. Formal initiation on the eighth of December admitted 17 new members to the club. Mothers and friends attended and entertainment and refreshments were furnished. On Saturday, March 26, the Marlette FHA invited seven FRN A, ,f x NEW YW QQ? o 4 7 EJ ' ' 1 I l S2 Qt AS' 4 ,D 'NR-lb neighboring chapters to participate in the District FHA Convention in Marlette. Each group contributed to the pro- gram and the most memorable part of the day was the modeling of new and old fashions by the Marlette members.
