Ramsey, B. Scholz We have 46 boys and girls in our room this year. Marilyn Brown and Richard Holl- and started in the fall but left before Christmas. Patricia Fuller and Zary Lou Brooks joined our group soon after they moved away. Since we had so many pupils in our room, Mrs. Wolfe takes 13 pupils every after- noon. Marlene Olsen, Donna Williams and Marilyn Cargill have had perfect attendance this year. he have had several parties in our room this year. he celebrated all the importmt Holidays by doing something special. Thirty-four boys and girls from our room ride on the bus every day. The other twelve live in town.

Of these forty pupils seven live in town and thirty-three come on buses from the rural area. The class room is located in the grade library. This has been much appreciatedby the children as they have had free access to a great nu ber of books this year.

OF these 36 are transported by The children entering the fourth grade have graduated from the Primary departumt and experience their first step in growing up. Reading is still a major subject but emphasis is placed on reading to learn rather than on learning to reed. The reading program provides for mastery of and growth in the use of'ell the abilities developed at previous levels. A basic reader is used that provides reading adtivities based on interest as well as growth and guidance in many phases of reading. ln addition to the basic render several supplementary readers are provided. To meet the individual differences in abilities and achievements the grade library provides additional material. My Weekly Reader, a graded newspapeg extends the interest to current topics. Spelling includes phonetic drills, definitions, word analysis and the use of the dictionary. Three hundred words are learned in the year.
