Riedel There were thirty-nine pupils who registered in our room in September. Through- out the year we have had five new pupils. They are Joy Sheridan, Andrea Riedel, Sandra Fuller, Lee Armstrong, and Ronald McCoon. Three pupils, Richard Kaumeyer, Sharron Ervin, and Donald Robb moved away during the year. This leaves a total of fortyione in our room. Twenty-five of these boys and girls come to school by bus. There is an average of thirty-two hot lunches a day served in our room. The main objective in the first grade is learning to read.

Sanchez, C. Steinmann, S. Thornton, J. Wood, B. Force The membership of this room has been stable throughout the year with an average of 53.5. About 23 of our children have hot lunch every day. ' Twentyytwo children ride on the bus to school and the rest of the children live in town. Our chief activity has been learning to read. Our reading interests have center- ed around the experiences of the children and well with in their range of comprehab sion. The children have learned to read and write the numbers to 100. They have become familiar with number words and number stories and have completed the Numbers Stor- ies Work Book. They have periods for writing, spelling, oral language and social science: also music and art.

Bean There are 46 of the 67 second grade children in this room. Thirty-two of these children are transported by bus. In the Afternoon 15 boys and girls from this room go to the kindergarten cottage for special help in reading. In addition to our bnsic text several sets of supplementary readers am available: each child gets a weekly render and we get 50 books from our grade library which are exchanged every six weeks. At the close of our first semester we gave the California Progressive Reading Tam in which our children tested above average. In Aay we will give the Stanford Achievement Test: this test includes reading, spelling, and arithmetic. '
