We have a keen awareness that the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is our most precious heritage and that since this has been bought with the blood of our ancestors we must not hold it lightly or permit it to slip away. The world into which we are going is one of great accomplishment, awesome knowledge, and con- fusing obligations. May we be guided wisely as we choose the way we may best serve our generation. We have changed from previous classes by having the school seal on one side and the rampant lion from the Duke of Mar1borough's shield on the other. We would like very much to make this style our permanent school ring. We are also looking forward to our Prom in May. We all know it will be a great success and are avidly awaiting for it. We wish them all the success and happiness in whatever they choose to do in the future. It has been a pleasure to associate with them during the past year. This year has been an interesting one for the class of 1971. We had our classes inthe high school building instead of the elementary building where we spent the first seven of our school years. We have learned many new things in all of our classes: Science, math, English, art, music, shop, home economics. We are look- ing forward to a happy future in our new high school building. ,, , . . g G ' R. Gerentine, Eighth Grade President Officers and Advisor- M. Baker, R. McMullen. There was a definite feeling of loss when Mr. O'Donne1l resigned as coach of the varsity team. Re- placing him was Coach Sagarese who guided the Iron Dukes in attaining the title of UCAL Champs of '6'7. The Dukes had a terrific season winning 17 out of 18 games which included an undefeated league record. Rich Faulk, the principal scorer made 53 points in the game against Highland Falls surpassing Mar1boro's pre- vious record of 47 points for a single game. Mickey La- Polla, Fred Monroe, Mike Pagano, and Roy McAteer provided the vital offensive and defensive plays so nec- essary for our ream's success. Howie Baker and Ralph McMullen were among the essential replacements whose enthusiasm and vigor helped to make the Mighty Dukes triumphant. J. V. BASKETBALL - ROW ONE: B. Partington, F. Monahan, D. Every student sooner or later asks himself, 'lsn't it time I stopped preparing and .started doing? Shouldn't I get on with the business of life? But experience shows that the business of life is precisely the business of learning. To be sure, what is learned must be applied. But the more we learn, the more we have to offer ourselves, our families, our society. It is sometimes too early to start doing, but it is never too late to continue learning. E M
