THIS IS 0 Ladies and gentlemen, I now present This Is Our Life. As you know there are a lot of mottos in this world which many people follow, I heard one just 'the other day which seemed familiar, it .read thus: Not finished, just begunf' You may guess already what kind of people would choose that kind of motto, Yes, it was the 1953 graduating class of Marlboro High, '6Kids, 'This Is Our Life'.', Let's gather around and just see how much of those four years of high school we can still recall. It all began in September of 1949, the year when history was made, because after all we weren't the worst class that began as freshmen at Marlboro. Our first year wasn't too ex- citing, the Sophomores initiated us to a dance, but remember the Hallowe'en dance held later on and the walk through the spooky, dark basement? In anticipation of our someday becoming Seniors we started making money in our Sophomore year in the time-worn tradition of selling school supplies. We ordered our jackets, too, and how we Istruted when they came the same year fa mistake in our favorj. However, the money from the school supplies gave us a start for our Junior year when we sold, sold, sold. Remember the cards, the Wonder Sheets, stationery, wrapping paper, candy fat noonsj and the pop and dogs fat gamesj plus the magazine campaign, Booster club tickets, play tickets i'n which we helped the school some? Then too, fellows remember those days of practice in your Freshman and Sophomore days which added up and resulted in some nice dividends for your Junior year, especially in track, too, it was the momenftous Junior year when we girls brought in the most tax stamps. The high school moved into the brand new building, though everyone wished to be back with the familiar, gum-covered, seats and battered walls, we were 'most scared to move. THE UR LIFE The traditional Junior Christmas dance that comes, regardless, was snowed out, well, I guess in too, but as a class out for dough we weren't stumped, as soon as we were back at school remember the hurry up meeting and the quickly scheduled 'Sweetheart Danceu in- stead. Then there was our Homecoming game with Hartville that we won, and the dance later when it was held, you guessed it, in the new gym, with a lovely representing junior Queen Sharon Greek. Prom we can't forget, with the quick contract with the studio beforehand so we would have pictures. for our annual. Everyone had a grand time, the dinner, the dancing, and of course, afterwards. With the Prom bill holding us down we summered and waited till we'd be Seniors. Funny Ithough, it's not what it's cooked up to be. You,re used to having a class ahead of you when, bang! youlre that class and you feel as if the school has sort of gone down in its standards. We wear ourselves out getting our Senior pictures taken, working on the An- nual, taking tests, getting out the newspaper, cooking up two activities a semester, putting on the Senior play, and in the meantime keep up our grades so we can go on with commence- ment and the trip, yet when we sing Auld Lang Sync in Senior Chapel we shed a few ftears for rather the girls doj, grin a little and say, Ah, it's been funn and we wouldn't have missed it for the World. Our high school days are over but we've been ably guided by our sponsor, Mrs. Ramser, and our four-year president Jerry Bowman, we were proud of Sally when she became president of the Ohio Chapter of the F.H.A. we felt sorry for the guys who suffered from football, we've had fun in class parties, we've done so many things and we've been a class which each of us has helped to make. Kids, this is our life, but remember it is not finished, just begun. END
