HOME EC CLUB The g1rls of the Home Econom1cs Club met Wllh M1ss Young on September 17 for the purpose of elect1ng ofhcers for the com1ng year Those elected were Pres1dent Esther Frank VICE Pres1dent Susanne Werner Secretary Ioanne Werner Treasurer Evelyn Ruff1er SOC1Gl Chaumon Gra e Hames Program Chauman Sh1rley Selfet Refreshment Chaxrman Margaret Vaughn The forty one members elected Mrs Kyle and Mrs Rmg as lhell' club moth ers The glrls entertamed the County F H A Club on October 25 They held a Chnstmas party on December 17 and the1r Mother Daughter Banquet on Apnl 21 The meet1ngs were held the f1ISl and th1rd Wednesday of every month dur 1ng act1v1ty perlod The Home Ec Club has had a very successful club th1s year HI Y CLUB The H1Y Club elected 1ts offvcers and on October 13 started a very act1ve year under the helpful gu1dance of Mr Hazen The off1cers are as follows Pres1dent Kenneth Rxnger VICE Pres1dent Malden Sledden Secretary B111 Bre1t Treasurer Floyd Ha1nes Chaplaln Donald G1bson The H1 Y Club proved 1tself to be very act1ve and helpful throughout the past year The name of the club 1S The Dashmg Dukes and our purpose 15 To extend and ma1nta1n hlgher morals throughout the school and Commun ty At a few of our regular meet1ngs we had very capable speakers M Kuceyeskr a faculty member mformed us on Compulsory Mxlrtary Tra1n1ng Mr Youngen from the Y M C A talked on lmprovements for the club Sports announcer I1m Muzzy talked on rad1o broadcastmg We 1nv1ted the whole school to enjoy Dr Slutz a spec1al1st We enjoyed sw1ms at the Y pool sponsored a school dance and were 1n Vlled to a dance at Lou1sv1lle In Apnl we put on a f1ISl a1d chapel program The club conducted a scrap dr1ve and donated seventy f1V9 dollars to help fore1gn H1 Y Clubs Y TEEN Under the gu1dance of M1ss Haxdet thrrty f1Ve g1rls met on September 16 and elected the followmg g1rls as the1r 0ff1CeIS for the year Pr sxdent Shuley Serfert V1ce Pres1dent Esther Frank Secretary Grace HGIDGS Treasurer Sus anne Wemer Program Chalrman Arlene Kyle The meetmgs were held the second Wednesday of every month dunng ac l1V1lY penod Dues were th1rtyf1ve cents per person On October 9 the YTe n had theu 1n1t1at1on It was all done by candle l1ght The glrls mothers were guests A supper followed the serv1ce On December 19 the glrls attued 111 dark sk1rts and whlte blouses went car ol1ng through the halls Th1S was enyoyed by everyone as 1ts was the hrst ume lt was ever done at school Our second semester act1v1ty was a plC1'l1C held at S1lver Park on May Sth After the p1cn1c we went to the theater 29 1 1 ' 1 1 1 . . . . .
