Class Voyage ALL ABOARD On September 7 1944 forty three members walked up the plank to board our Sh1p of Educatlon Marlboro Hrgh School We were accompanled by seven new passengers who were Esther Frank Robert Mrchel Donald Ru! f1er Cathenne Anthony Vmcent Burgess Dons Monter Wayne Graham We were under the able guldance of M1ss Cope One week later our class offrcers were elected as follows Pres1dent B111 Brelt V1ce Pres1dent Robert Michel Secretary Esther Frank Treasurer Grace Halnes Ioanne Wemer acqulred the pos1t1on of cheerleadlng by a unanunous vote Legally we were not full pledged Freshmen for our 1n1t1at1on was just m the making On Fnday Octo- ber 13 the Sophomores forced the greenles to humble themselves by e peatmg the followmg phrase O mrghty Sophomores I am but a humble worm As the year progressed great achrevements were made ln our cour ses but we found tlme for a class party A party was planned 1n December for the week before Chnstmas but because of deep snow and unfavorable weather the event was postponed untll March Dunng the latter part of the year we regretted the loss of three members Harley Goodxng Gene Mrller and Wrlllam Orzo It wasnt long untll one year of our voyage was completed and we departed rn late May for a well-eamed leave and vacahon EMBARKATION The followmg fall we resumed our voyage w1th forty two passengers Mrs Deshler a newcomer to the faculty took the respons1b1l1t1 of sponsonng the class th1s year We argamzed by electmg our offrcers Pres1dent Rxchard Candle V1ce Pres1dent B111 Brert Secretary Susanne Werner Treasurer Sh1rley Serfert These new members acqualnted themselves w1th our class Malden Sledden Harold Moore Iohn D1anu On October 25 w gave an 1n1 t1at1on party at Skateland rn Canton whxch was enjoyed by all Thxs year a new football team was organlzed and we were proud to have Sophomores on the team to represent our class Many also partlcxpated 11 baseball The year was draw1ng to a close so we ended the year wlth an unforgetable event by havlng a buffet drnner and dance rn the audrtonum DONT GIVE UP THE SHIP On September 4 1946 thrrty SIX members returned from th rr summer vaca uon and seated themselves as Iunrors Thxs year the class welcomed our n w sponsor M1ss Haldet and began a year of much act1v1ty and hard work A capable group of offrcers were elected as follows Pres1dent Malden Sled den V1ce Pres1dent Robert Mlchel Secretary Sally Henson Treasurer Sus anne Werner By this tlme football was well under way We were honored by a large representatlon of IUDIOIS Thxs year bemg the sales year for the Iunlors potato chips candy wemers and vanous other assor ments wer sold at games and noons A Halloween dance was held by our class ln whx h we had a crowd who were slow to say adxous At th1s t1me we found tlme for two farewell partxes one for Glenn Johnson who left school to serve ln the armed forces the other for Flora Mxller who transferred to Atwater Two other members ended thexr hlgh school career th1s year Donald Ruffler and Ruth Haswell Basketball began ln 1ts usual fashxon of excxtement and antrcrpatron B111 Brelt B111 Kreuzer B111 Lare Kenny Rlnger Dale Sweltzer Dlck Candle and Harold Moore tmanagerl were the Iumors who composed a large part of the team By th1s tune our savmgs account was enlarglng raprdly so we rssued 1nv1tat1ons to the Senlors to enjoy our Garden of Memones at the Alllance Country Club on May 3 Soon another year drew to a close and once agam we departed w1th the sat1sfact1on of havmg completed a year of great pro- gress DESTINATION LAND September 6 1947 marked the beglnmng of our last year of sa1l1ng Through the able gurdance of M1ss Haldet and the hne coopera lon of the class we 15- 1 1 ' 11 - - 11 - - , . - 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 . - 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 - - 1 11 - 11 1 1' ' . . ,, . 1 1 11 - - , . 1 1 1 1 . . 1 . . . .
