SENIOR CLASS PLAY Melv1n Qu1llen B111 Bloss Iohn Moore Glenn G11 rest 'tlancy Harsh Mary Sue Aust1n Norma Lare La Vera Green Bob Freshley Dons Karlen On stage' Wlth the partlng of the curtams the semor class play The Case of the M1ss1ng HGIIS became one of the outstandrng productlons of Marlboro H1gh School The flrst few moments of the play were f1lled wlth suspense for the phantom B111 Bloss made h1s terror1z1ng appearance at thls t1me The butler Glenn G11 crest and a promment lawyer Bob Freshley were captured by th1s powerful character almost rmmedrately upon the1r appearance It soon became qu1te evrdent that the spooky old housekeeper Nancy Harsh was also mvolved tn Whatever was afoot In a short txme all the he1rs had arr1ved and all soon were aware of the fact that some person was try1ng to do away w1th them m order to 1nher1t Castle Wentz and the Wentz fortune themselves Perry Pres ton an observant young author who eventually solved the mystery was well portrayed by Iohn Moore The moment of fear were dellghtfully entermmgled wlth the humorous antlcs of the nervous falnty Mrs Beeman Dons Karlen and her g1ggl1ng teen age daughter Maybelle played by La Vera Green Perry s punch drunk body guard Brulser Barnes portrayed by Melvln Qu1llen b came very 1nfatuated w1th the charmmg M1ss Lourse Thomas played by Nor ma Lare Mary Sue Austm fared qulte well 1n the femlmne lead by wmmng her man Perry Preston and also becomlng the mrstress of Castle Wentz F ollow1ng several bad flghts Perry and Brurser fxnally brought the horr1ble phantom to j'L1Sl1Ce and all were verv happy to have the w1ll read to rece1ve therr lust shares of the estate An lmportant part rn the play s success was contnbuted by Barbara Vaugh an bus1ness manager who took care of the f1nanc1al matters and the sale of t1ckets The net prof1t was S207 O3 The members of the cast and the rest of the class who helped w1th the man agement are very grateful to Mr Maurer who helped to make the play a great success 14 1 1 1 C 1 1 1 1 . . . . 11 - 1 . . . ,, . . 1 I 1 1 1 - 1 f' 1 1 I 1 1 1 1 1 1 . eew vvfwaw, As I was gaz1ng out of my hotel wmdow down on Broadway I suddenly got very homes1ck so I de clded to call the bellhop and have hlm brmg up some magazlnes for me to read Wh1le I was walt 1ng my mmd turned to my former classmates of 1947 Gee I would have g1ven a lot to know what they were do1ng now for ten years IS a rather long tlme to be away from those you l1ked so much My doorbell rang and 1t was the bellhop wlth my magaz1nes The f1rst one I p1cked up was the Tune and to my surpnse I saw Iohn Moore s plc ture on the cover He s the newly elected Repubh can Senator from Oh1o Hardly gett1ng over my frrst surpnse I found a p1cture of the champ1on ch1cken farmer who IS none other than M1ldred Eble Leaflng through the mag az1ne I found another surpnse a p1cture of Nancy Harsh 1n a cr1sp-wh1te nurse s un1form She IS now the head nurse of Walter Reed Hospltal When I reached the soctal sect1on of the Tlme I found a p1cture of Margaret Bradley who 1S now playmg her boog1e WOOg16 at Carneg1e Hall Then I turned the page and saw a p1cture w1th the t1tle of The Most Danng Man In The World and tt was B111 Bloss for he now IS the supenntendent of wash1ng the wrn dows of the Empue State Bu1ld1ng Pagmg on I found a p1Cl'UI6 of Ethel Vaughan who does mtenor decorat1ng rn the homes of top mov1e stars I reach ed the sc1ence sect1on and found a pxcture of Glenn Gxlcrest who won recogmtxon for h1s expenments w1th monkeys at the Marlboro Un1vers1ty Imme dlately below thls was a pxcture of Wlllard Upl1nger who presented the world w1th the 1nvent1on of a technrcolor telev1s1on set Hav1ng reached the Sports sect1on I saw a huge man called Elmer the Wrestler Tak1ng closer ob- servatxon I found Elmer to be none other than Mel v1n Qu1llen Laymg down the Tune I pxcked up the maga ztne Natlons Busmess and found on 1ts cover a p1cture of the newly appo1nted commxssloner of san 1tat1on of the C1ty of Marlboro It was none other than Claude Clayton On the next page was a plc ture of Bob Freshley who IS the wmner of the Best Salesman Award Then on the SIXIII page was a p1cture of Leonard Bahler who becam the Coffee Plantat1on of Braz11 Assoc1at1ons new manager I turned to the Colleglate part of the Natxons Busmess and found a p1cture of Betty Halnes who 15 the Dean of Women at the Marlboro Un1vers1ty On the same page was a p1cture of the woman who gave a speech on Ph1p1ologh at the UIIIVGYSIIY the ass1stant to Dr What A Bram Norma Lare The next page was devoted to the Anny and I found a p1cture of Tom Mlchel who 15 the Major General of O S S 1n the Army On page twenty f1ve I found a picture of the champ1on coast to-coast lady truck dnver Mary Sue Austm Eager to see 1f I could fmd some more znformauon concemmg my former classmates I leafed frantl cally through the magaz1ne Soclahte and sure enough there on the cover was a p1cture of Barbara Vaughan successful Powers model I saw a PIC ture of Helen Summers and Del1la Machamer now a world famous duet entertamxng the Presxdent of the Umted States Tum1ng the page I saw a p1cture of Marvm Moulm who IS a mov1e dlrector rn Holly wood Also on that page I saw a large p1cture of the new mOV1e ldol Lan Monroe who IS none other than Inn Vaughan A large tmted p1cture on the next page was that of Geneva Van Camp a toe dancer who IS stamng oppos1te I1m 1n thezr new leader today who rs M1llard Shre1ner Turnlng to the Fann Ioumal I found a pxcture of Herbert Slusser who has the largest dauy farm 1n thls county On the back cover I saw a p1cture of the newest low cost car on the productlon l1ne call ed the Wearstlerl1ne made by the Iack Wearstler Automobrle Corporatxon In the beauty SSFIIOD of The Ladles Home Iour nal I found a p1cture of La Vera Green who now IS a well known ha1r styllst Below I.l'l1S I found a PIC ture of the famous beauty cultunst Madame Lu Bar ry who I knew as Dons Karlen Also on thls same page I found a p1cture of the world famous manlcur 1st Betty Fausnlght I then tumed to the mlscellan eous sect1on and found a pxcture of Irene Ohman who now makes excluslve dress designs 1n a prom ment New York Shop Bemg thoroughly exhausted ln m1nd as well as body I decrded to close my eyes and get some sleep Some how I d1dnt get that homes1ck feelmg for the rest of the 47 ers for now there IS no doubt 1n my rnmd but what they ve done the best and been the best that Marlboro has ever produced 1 1 ' I u - u . - I - .
