'the nym- beis of the Negative team were: Piano Solo, Vera Phillipsg Dramatic Reading, Lucille Umbeigerg Vocal Duet, Isabel Foltz and Wilma Sebrell. Members of the Affirmative- team were: Piano Solo, Florine Frickg Dramatic Reading, Hazel Eshelmang Wind In- stxument Solo, Alberta Weitenbergerg Vocal Duet, Mary Clayton and Viola Davis. Friday night March 25 the Negative team met Hartville's Negative team at Hart- ville. No events were won by our Negative team. The same night the Affirmative team met Hartvil1e's Affirmative at home. Our Affirmative won the Vocal Duet and Piano Solo. The following Friday night, April 1, the winners of the Affirmative teams of Canal Fulton, North Canton, Jackson Twp., Middlebranch, Hartville, Uniontown, Gi-ecntowu and Marlboro met at Middlebranch. Our two Affirmative representatives were defeat- ed. The same night the Negative winners of the same schools met at North Canton, Due to the fact that our Negative team was unsuccessful the previous Friday night. Members of the Negative team were: Glen Smith, Vera Phillips, Alternate, and Maxine Chenevey. Piactice debates were held with Hartville, Middlebranch, and Uniontown. Since these were only practice deb- ates, there were no winners. The final debates were held at Canton Twp. Marlboi'o's Affirmative team debated with the Negative teams ot' Jackson Twp.. Canton Twp., and East Canton, The debate with Jackson Twp. was won by our team. At the same time our negative team met the Affirinative teams of Louisville, North Canton, and lVIiddlebraneh. Our Negative team won the debates with Middlebranell and North Canton. Rita Mae llaidet gave the oration for lilarlboro in the oratorieal contest also held at Canton Twp.
