He is Carl Hardy,world imous anthropologist. It was a 'ugh que stion but he won, Con- fatulations, Mr, Hardy, ECONOMICS HEAD APPOINTED Prof, Michael Jones has just re- :ived the appointment of head of ,e economics division of Harvard eet Univer sity. Prof. Jones is ie of the best versed men in the eld of economics. He has devoted ,s life to the betterment of man- .nd. 'ROFESSOR ACCEPTS POSITION Judy Morgan has just accepted e position of Dean of Women at umpkintown University. Just last :ar she was voted the favorite rofessor on the campus. LADY WINS TITLE FOR DIVE Shirley B rown won a title yes- rday for her spectacular swan ve. She plunged 92 feet off the ving board at the Athletic Pool in ashington, D. C. She competed gainst ten other world famed con- stants. SWANSON WINS TITLE Swanson, who has previously been known as the Slowest Man in the World , took part in a contest ye sterday where he was also a- warded the title of the Laziest Man in the World , Swanson ar- rived, read the rule s , and fell a- sleep, Hg slept so long that the judges had . to declare him the win- ner, When he awoke and was ques- tioned it was found that he slept twenty-two hours a day and only awakened to eat. He is the first man to receive both titles. MR. SATURDAY NIGHT Jerry Fishe r , better known as Mr. Saturday Night, because his show is so univer sally watched, was host to Jerry Brown, great Broadway comedian. While they are reminiscing about old times they surprised the world by re- vealing they had been classmates in high school. GOVERNMENT AID ADDED Janet Stohler, who has been working with the government in the problem of foreign homeless chil- dren,is a new member of the Pres- ident's cabinet. She is very helpful in aiding the g ov e rnment in this field , The President says, Since Miss Stohler has become a member of my cabinet, things have been ac- complished. Our thanks go out to her. GOLDEN GIRL PICKED Marolyn Law s on , world famed baton twirler was chosen today to represent Purduca University as Golden Girl of 1968. She will re- ceive her M, R, S. Degree when she graduates next week. 25 DISC JOCKEY RETURNS Markleville was honored today by having the most famous disc jockey of our time at the coliseum. As you probably all know, I am talking about Mike Lane. Mike has previously worked on station A-R-A-B and is now working on Teen's Hit Parade . He has thrilled teen-agers all over the world by spinning platters for them. BEAUTIFUL WEDDING The most beautiful church wed- ding ever held took place at Memo- rial Church. The happy couple was Rhesa Myer s and Russel Brooks. The bride was a vision in satin and lace, Her colors were purple and white and she carried abouquet of white chrysanthemums with purple streamers tied in lover's knots. HISTORY ON THE SENATE FLOOR Jerry Jones, Senator from Indi- ana, is at this moment making his- tory. He has just broken the former filibuster record and is still going strong. The former record was 66 hours and was considered phenom- enal, but Jone s has talked for 71 hours and is still at it, If he can keep it up for about 3 more hours the senate will have to concede the point to him.

Weather.. Clear Skies and Warmer Markleville PATIENT RECOVERING Doctor Moore, world famous doctor from America, has per- formed an immaculate operation on Hollywood's Robert V. Leever, Mr. Le e ve r had a serious infection of the heart. The operation lasted ap- proximately 4 hour s . While Mr. Leever was undergoing this opera- tion, everyone from eight to eighty years old kept their fingers crossed for the noted actor. Dr. Moore was chosen by Mr. Leever and his ad- visory board to perform this deli- cate operation. FAMOUS ARTIST RETURNS One of the most famous artists of our time has returned to his home town. Monsieur Lee, better known as Kent Riggs, has been pro- claimed by many to be the best artist since Rembrandt. Besides painting he is a sculptor and de- signs clothes for the better clothing stores. We are proud to claim him as one of our leading citizens. NEW HEAD APPOINTED Margaret Jone s was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the New Colum- bus Tribune after the last one re- signed because of illness. This job was sought after by the most prom- inent editors in the nation. Many felt that a man should have the ap- pointment, but they admitt e d that Miss Jones is one of the best. OPERATION BY DOCTOR FESLER WINS 500 Bob Fesler streaked to victory again in his Heath Special at the Brick yard this afternoon. The royal blue car, built and maintained by Daryll Heath,the greatest racing mechanic of all times, came home in a blaze of glory as Fesler, con- sidered to be the greatest driv e r since Eddie Rickenbacker, doe s it again. .-.l-m--1.1m-- MEDICAL TEAM RETURNS Dr. Bruce Hasting s and Linda Price, R. N., have just returned from the orient where they have been combating an outbreak of asi- atic flu with th e s e r um that they discovered two years ago. Although this is not the only serum for the flu, it is the most effective because it takes effect immediately and lasts for several years. ,lil-.---mm NEW MONEY HEAD Carolyn B u r ton was appointed head of the U. S. Mints yesterday. Although she says there will be no change s in the monetary system, but we wonder why the change. 1-m P. B. A. PRESIDENT CHOSEN Linda Todd, a leading society woman, has just been chosen the new P. B, A,, Pretzel Bender's As- sociation, President, She was cho- sen because of her good working record. Because of her 1000 more people were supplied with pretzels last year. She was also chosen by her fellow workers as the designer of the Prettiest pretzels. 24 WORLD CHAMPION ICE SKATER Judy Bennett, local ice skater, has just won the world ice skating championship in Oslo, Norway, where the Olympics were held this year. Mis s Bennett will returr home in about three months with the Olympic ice skating laurels. OU TSTANDING PILOT AWARDE D Floyd Girt, pilot for the Cloudy Airlines, was awarded The Out- standing Pilot of the Year award He has flown 38 transatlantic flights, 456 cross c ountry hops without a single mishap. He also flew the new Cloudy eight engine jet on its maiden flight. - 1-m MAN ON THRESHOLD OF SPACE Prof. Sandra F e s m i r e , newly appointed Secretary of Science, an- nounced today that man is now or the threshold of space . This has come about by the development of 2 rocket lining capable of withstand- ing atomic propulsion. This, says Prof. Fe s m i r e , will change the human life almost as much as the automobile . CHEERLEADER'S CLINIC A cheerleader's clinic was he r e cently at the Industrial Art' College by Rex Snideman and h assistants.
