611155 Histary 'Twas a bright sunny morning of September, 1946, when some ex- cited, but not too anxious, first graders entered Markleville School. For twelve long years we have trod these familiar halls losing a few of our friends, but best of all gaining several whom we now see as the gradua- tion class of '58, As Mrs, Beckner called the roll that day, she was an- swered by Sandra Fesmire, Margaret Jones, Judy Bennett, Jerry Fisher, Bob Fesler, and Ronald Moore. On the same day of September at Fall Creek Heights, Miss Shaw settled her ten newcomers long enough to learn their names. They were Bud Girt, John Marshall, Rex Snideman, Rhesa Myers, Janet Stohle r , Carl Hardy, Mike Lane, Judy Morgan, and Mike Jones. During the second grade at Fall Creek Rhesa Myers left us. Marolyn Lawson moved to Markleville during the fourth grade. While at Fall Creek Kent Riggs joined the class in the third grade, and Rhesa re- joined us in the fourth. Daryll Heath and Keith Swanson joined our ranks in the seventh grade at Markleville and Carolyn Burton joined in the eighth grade. Then our first big year started in high school. We were all brought together in the large freshman class, Our sponsor was Glen McClure, a jolly, short man at our parties. Jerry Jones joined our class from Ander- son when we were sophomores. We really had something to look forward to because it was time to order our class rings and our class sweaters which were black with white Old English letters. Our competent and reli- able sponsor here was Dally Hunter, The following year we organized as the junior class with Clifton Warner as our sponsor. Here we gained a few new members who were Bruce Hastings, Linda Todd, and John Kuklenski, The latter part of this year was filled with excitement as we presented our junior class play, A Feudin' Over Yonder, and then we entertained the seniors, faculty, and guests at the junior-senior prom, which was held at The Top Hat, southwest of Yorktown, At the beginning of our senior year we added another boy's name to our cla s s ro ster . His name is Jerry Brown, And now under the sponsorship of Mr. Rittman came our final year, which has been one continuous wonderful whirl. There have been track meets, baseball games, cross country meets, basketball games, parties, a s s emblie s and many other activities along with our studies. Then, of course4,we can't forget our senior class play, Desperate Ambrose. To climax these four wonde rful years, we planned and carried out our senior week which was from May 17 to May 24. During this time we had many splendid class associations which included parties, scavenger hunts, bowling, fishing, picnic outings and many other ac tivit i e s , During this time we did settle down long enough for the prom at the Student Center Ball Room at Ball State in Muncie on May 9. We then began preparing for our future with our baccalaureate on May 18. Then came that long awaited day, May 20, our commencement day. This was the end and yet the beginning , On Saturday, May 27, we embarked for our s enio r tr ip via Washington and New York returning home on June 4 to go our own separate ways. This is a brief summary of our class from that September day of '46 to that final day of '58, Z3
