It is surely not a building, a book, or an individual, but rather an at- mosphere of learning directed by the teachers, created with the use of the Students' minds and imagination . The atmosphere is made up of students, teachers, and the de- sire for knowledge. At M. T. H. S. this atmosphere exists. Although it is not physical, it can be seen, heard, and felt by all students by means of . . . o building Contents Our School .... Administration Faculty .... Academics . . Our School . . . Most of the school day is spent work- ing in the classroom---reading, writing, studying, thinking, creating, planning, experi- menting, and taking tests. With these tasks in mind, devoted teachers Work to provide the needed experiences and responsibilities for a richer life. Fulfilling these purposes, the teachers and students Work together. n11i.1i -I The adminstration is constantly making plans to improve our school. This year they enlarged the library, purchased a mobile unit for commer- cial classes, study hall, and music. With federal aid money they supplied the school With new machines, such as, audio-Visual aids, tape recorders, record players, duplicating machines, and grade averagers. At present they are making plans for more buildings and equipment. Other responsibilities faced by the administration are discipline among the students , coordination with the faculty and public relations with the community. It is due to the efforts of these men that our school is a member of the North Central Association. Mr. Wylie G. Key Mr. L. The newest addition, social work, can outfit the student with the physical needs according to his defects. Glasses, hearing aids, dentistry, and medicine are on hand for the needy students . Social science, on the other hand, is concerned with the child's knowledge of his social environ- ment and the world around him. He can learn about the civilization of Egypt to the modern workings of computers and rocket launches. Politics, cold wars, Viet Nam, and other world events are re- viewed and studied. This world knowledge acquaints the student with the difference in free and occupied cotuitries. By making class reports, the students take part in the activity. Guidance deals mainly with emotional problems and planning of one's future. Students can not Work well if they are upset. By discussing his problems and find- ing a solution, the student can devote his time toward a definite goal. YEARBOOK STAFF Hours of patient work and co-operation At the Yearbook Assembly, Judy Young and Mike Watson are announced as editor and V, asst.-editor of the 65-66 Yearbook. A tremendous amount of Work and a co-operative, organized group are two necessities for the production of a yearbook. To finance the book, ad- vertisements are sold to local busi- nesses and books are sold to students. Layouts, copy, cutlines, and headings are only a few of the tedious, 'brain- racking tasks that had to be finished before the deadline. Members sacrificed their time and effort to meet the rush. When the books are sent to press, the Work is not coin- pleted because receipts have to be or- ganized to assure all students receive their book. The 65-66 Yearbook has seen many smiles, frowns, tears, and frustra- tions, but the book did get sent to press . bound cz yearbook Top: Mrs, Faucett, the sponsor, helps Marian Miller with layouts. Through long, hard hours of practice and competition, the junior track team proved themselves Indians of which fans could be proud. Our students are constantly at work, whether it is the painting of a first picture or the Writing of a final term paper. Students pour much of their time and energy into forming lasting friendships and asso ciations. It is this harmonious atmosphere from which evolve moments of spontaneous laughter and hilarity, wild enthusiasm and exuberance, and extra ordinary pleasure and amusements. -1-1--1 .il-l-1-1 Throughout the high school years students seem over-anxious for the time of graduation, however, as the time draws nearer, they begin to real- ize that some of their best years have slipped away. Seniors must now ad- just to a new routine, depending upon the choice of the student. Their last year, filled with fun and activities, included arriving of Senior rings, sponsoring of the Homecoming Dance, exchanging of pictures, partici- pating in the Drama Festival, ordering of invitations, and measuring of caps and gowns. The Seniors also willingly helped the March of Dimes by leading the drive in Marked Tree. But the most thrilling event of the year was the Prom and Banquet Nothing will ever replace these four years for the Seniors who now will begin to fulfill the plans, hopes , and dreams of the future. Selling candy was such a great success that it was used twice-- Christmas and Valentines. To add to the treasury, sweatshirts, vic- tory horns, and class jewelry were sold. SIXTH GRADE Elementary school is the foundation for individual person- ality as well as for a liberal edu- cation. Adding a special education class has offered encouragement and a chance for the student to comprehend material at his own level. Remeadial reading classes in the curriculum will help raise the students scholastic ,ability and achievement. French class- es offer opportunity for the more advanced students. New equipment such as abacus, overhead projector, televisions , duplicator machines, and slide projectors leave time for individual help and offers new ideas and con- cepts for the more progressive students. These have not replaced the age-old ideas of love, kindness, and understanding that mold a model student. Six down ond Six to go i 'fffei' 3 ,Q ' - , ' 7 r, B , sr i r . difficulties of the yearbook staff. When everything seemed to be going along so Well, the bottom fell out--with the editor and assistant editor on the bottom. The staff was always just a step behind. Nevertheless, bit by bit the completion came. And the yearbook staff is proud to have presented this theme--our school is more than a building--which We feel applies to our school. We thank the administration, faculty, student body, Mr. Edward Rogers, and all other persons for their help in the publication of this book. Our deepest gratitude goes to Mrs Faucett for her time and efforts devoted to our yearbook. We hope the POW-WOW will bring many fond memories to you today, as well as in the years to come.
