' Seventh Grade A ' The Seventh grade is a great new experience for these students. They enjoy the assemblies, sports, clubs, and band, which they can now participate in. The students now grow accustom to many teachers and the hustle of changing classes in the allotted time. Their academic work grows every day as it has in the years before. This has been a memorable year. Assemblies are fun. In a school such as Marked Tree High School, everyone is out- standing in his own way. Here anyone can be a leader, if he is willing to serve. Serving as criteria for many of the student body, these popular figures have a great responsibility. Who hasn't dreamed of being editor of the paper or annual? What boy hasn't dreamed of being a football or basketball hero or president of the student body or band? All the people in this section play an important part in the Growth of Marked Tree . Good leaders are made by good workers, but leaders are a nec- essity. The co-operation of these two elements have made the school year the great success it is. As examples of leadership, service, poise, charm, personality, and dependability, these individuals add a note of glamour and excitement to the year. By attaining such heights, they have become the Growth of Marked Tree personified. Highlight ' 5 - . ,Wea N 11 asm v--f'W- . - i,w.w wrt ,W . A M, Producing a yearbook is not an easy task. It takes an enormous amount of time, effort, concentration, and determination. In spite of the countless details and seemingly endless pages, the thrill of creat ing a publication so important to school life is challenging and rewarding. Typewriters clicked, layouts were drawn, and pictures were identified and la- beled, as work went far into the nights. Countless cokes were consumed for nour- ishment and a great many headaches were acquired. Besides learning to work with layouts, copy and pictures, and getting practical yearbook experience, students learned to work Well with others, and to accept respon- sibility. Lasting friendship and lots of good times working together are also counted as a reward. No one on the staff would trade these for anything. In athletics, spirit is a familiar word. Team spirit , school spirit , and such are used so often that they, have become almost trite phrases. This was a year of ups and downs for the Indians. Defeat was heartbreak- ing - but accepted gracefully, victory was sweet and enjoyed fully. Both will long be remembered by participants and fans alike. Perhaps the greatest challenge came as the Indians renewed their rivalry with Osceola. A new hustle and vigor was displayed by the team. The feeling of building to- ward something great was prevalent. Both fans and team felt a necessity to give their best - to make Marked Tree the best. Our school depends on the town to give contri- butions to the many projects which we undertake. Student support of local businesses gave sales to the merchants and played an important part in the town's economy. Local merchants in turn used advertisements to support the POW-WOW.
