Marked 'I'ree's basketball team has one ol' the greatest records ever accomplished in this section or possibly in schoolgirl circles anywhere. The high school girls ol' Marked Tree, known as the Squaws, have recently been crowned state champions again in the annual tournament at Newport, Arkansas. Nlueh of the credit for the splendid showings of the aggregation is due to Coach Kohn Bray, himself a former cage great at Arkansas College. Since beginning his coach- ing in l943 at Marked Tree, the Squaws have blossomed into by lar the best squad known to Arkansas, The team is now holding a ISI-game winning streak with which to start next season. Out of the last 206 games they have won 201. From the present team four plae-l on the All- State team. Out of the past seven seasons, Xlarked Tree Squaws have rap' ed the number one position six times and runner-up onee.
