VANfi EN Entertainment Alive! The entertainment industry was as big as ever this year Music brought many dancing and dressing fads, and for students, it was a dare to be dif- ferent. One hit lady was Cyndi Lauper. She was awarded Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. She brought a cheerful sound. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! that swept the nation A revolution in music is what Prince and the Revolution not only brought to music but as a movie too. Purple Rain. Madonna, A Material Girl, made top hits and a sound track for the movie Vision Quest. Madonna ' s look made a big impression of the dressing fads worn around campus We could never forget Michael and all the Jackson ' s! They all played for the Victory Tour and performed for millions at Dodger Stadium. Many groups from the UK were also big, Duran Duran. Tears for Fears. Gen- eral Public and so many others Tina Turner, was awarded record of the year with Wtiat ' s Love Gotta Do With It, and Lionel Richie Can ' t Slow Down was awarded Album of the Year, so OUTRAGEOUSi Performers come to aid in the fight to help starving Ethiopians. English groups came together to sing Do Ttiey Know it ' s Ctiristmas? written by Band-Aid. Here in America performers created We Are he World. They all earned millions of dollars from their re- cords to aid Ethiopia. Ttie Breakfast Club was one high school students could really relate to. Vision Quest was the one which Ma- donna made an appearance. Brilliant drama was in movies such as Ttie Kill- ing Fields. A Soldier Story and Witness which starred Harrison Ford.
