In the Midst Of Many . . . An Individual In the midst of many there is always someone who stands head-over-heels above the rest. One who is not afraid to express what he believes in. One who is not afraid to express ... his individual- ity. The crowd provides security, but it cannot un- derstand the joy of shooting the winning basket in the league playoffs or the dread of the Calculus final at fifth pe riod. The individual faces things alone. In a crowd we con all cheer the school football team on toward the C.I.F. playoffs or ap- plaud the school band for a performance well done, but the crowd cannot appreciate the warmth and beauty of a pink-golden sunset against the Los Angeles skyline or the thrill of being crowned Homecoming Queen. Each person shines in a special way. Each has a special goal to attain. Whether it ' s getting an A on the Physics test next Friday or just adding an extra two inches on the high jump, it is the individ- ual striving to achieve private goals which in turn enriches the crowd as a whole.
