The main goal of the council was to revitalize the school spirit that had died in recent years. They began by announcing the 1979 motto: ltNever has there been a class so ine, as the Mighty class of '79l . And declaring royal blue and light blue as the class colors. They went on to have many fund raisers in order to finance the Senior Picnic and Senior Luncheon held at the end of the year. The year ended spectacularly, with an all time first, the Senior Party was an all night cruise to Catalina Island. Sandy Wong listens attentively. Raul Palleres and Denise Castilleja lVl r. Katz, Advisor Ronnie Shimizu and Keelie lVIaly Gary Yee, V.P., and Fiona Loke CROWN and SCEPTRE is more than an honor society. It is a group of hard working, fun-loving, imaginative seniors who made it a point to make money. Members sold pickles at the Homecoming Festival and collected newspapers throughout the year as fundraisers. They also participated at the Cinco de lVlayo and Spring Festivals. Funds went towards the revival of the end-of-the-year banquet for 1979 and 1980 members. Another first for the group was the adorning of sweaters. Students in royal red pullovers with gold Crown and Sceptre emblems strutted around school for the first time. Early in the year President Don Levine organized the project to outht the club with sweaters. The project proved a success: members could spot each other more easily in the crowded halls of school and so could the other people in and around school. Denise sounds off at a Crown 84 Sceptre meeting, Ron, Perry, Glenn, and Gary discuss important issues while Don listens in disbelief. concerning Crown Sz Sceptre. Seniors!33
