B-93' High school and a new way of life: both awe-inspiring and confusingl Remember your first days as a scrub?. . .the fiendish system of numbering rooms that got you into the wrong classes?. . .strange teachers who lectured in dig- nified tones and then glared because you gulped? . . .the home-work assignments that were big- ger than anything you'd ever seen? In a little while, though, you felt that you belonged, although sometimes the sight of one of those dignified and aloof Seniors could make you feel awfully childish. -l All these new experiences are educational. . . You won't always be looking up to people. . . a year from now you'll be glancing patron- izingly at the freshmen who barge boisterously through the halls. Running to beat the tardy bell, trying to close the door on a locker full to capacity, cramming for the next day's test.. .the daily grind.. .six periods every day. . .six periods of Work, a little worry. . .and a little fun! Problems: unlinished notebooks. . .pencils often forgotten, textbooks stuffed with papers. . .books of foreign language ade- quately supplied With penciled notes in English Cfor purposes of translationj . . .math books full of characters that puzzle... grammar books with incorrect sentences to be reconstructed... 'historuyfbooks with dates to learn.. .music books.. .books of science, drama, business, art, and meal planning.. .blackboards, fdesks, the daily bulletin, bells. . .bells. . . bells. . . bellsl. . . Brief moments: gossiping with friends in the halls, Walking the girl-friend to class. making dates, breaking dates, eating in the lunchcourt and cafeteria, fighting our way into the crowded stu- dent body store, checking a book out of the library. . .all a part of the daily grind. Teachers: smiling. . .calm. . .froWning. . .seriousz papers: good grades. . .poor grades. . .sad grades: lessons: interesting. . . difficult. . .dulll Sure. it's a grind! So is life! But, down underneath, we realize that these four years at Keppel High will be some of the happiest of our lives! 3
